But the guy that wins every week does it with the Camaro body...

It runs in phases. There was a time when we had a field of eight 350Zs. But the Nissan is passe now.

Riley prototype with a HPI Mclaren rear wing, handles good.

What VBC chassis are you using? I have a ghost and am struggling for a set-up.

It's a VBC Racing T32FVBC 2.5mm Graphite Chassis for the XRay T3. I've running it for about 3 yrs and have had good results. I'm pretty close to the
T3 box set up with a few tweaks here and there.

The car also got lots of compliments yesterday. Maybe it looked good or maybe it's because it simply wasn't yet another HPI body.

Tommy, I campaigned my Audi R8 body for 9 months and most of the front splitter was gone before I retired it and painted another R8 for this EOS race. Never noticed any difference in handling with or without the splitter. I think a lot of this body detail is for looks not function.

I agree, John. But having not run a body with and then without a splittler, I was curious!

OK, so I know that this question has been asked a 100 times before, but I'm asking it a bit different. For years I ran an NSX body but it has finally passed on. I ran it because I liked the look but also because it was low, had good balanced down force, and had less drag than some of the other bodies out there. Now I need to find a new body. I've read that the 350Z is popular at some tracks for the same reasons. Lately, I've seen a Mercedes AMG GT-3 coupe and liked its looks. I'm not that crazy about the Audi R-8 (personal choice and looks big and bubble like). Maybe I should start a different thread for this but I'll start by asking here:

Bodies: What ones are popular at your track and why?

USGT is just starting out at our outdoor asphalt track this year and it is growing slowly. We are about to switch to indoor carpet. Nobody runs the same body. I started out with some ready to run mustang body that somebody gave me and it served the purpose but noticed a nice improvement when I switched to the McAllister Jaguar body. I'm not sure how good of an improvement just the body made because I completely revamped my setup when installing it. But it is lower longer and looks great and my car handles very nice. I hope that people buy and paint bodies because they it like rather than what goes the fastest. Fast is great but variety is what makes this class and USVTA so cool. And from what I've read anybody can win with just about any body (no pun intended). Keep it real, keep it cool, and show some personality in your body selection and paint. And have fun!!

I really like the Tamiya EBRO (51292 Tamiya EBBRO 350R Body Set).
Kind of like the NSX but with more down force. The negatives are it's hard to find (ebay maybe?), expensive and a bit heavy but pretty durable (why it's heavy).

If you can't find it then at least Tamiya will be releasing soon 2 new GT bodies as shown on RED RC.

robk 09-19-2014 03:57 AM

Besides what was mentioned, pretty much any NSX (Tamiya, HPI) is going to be good. Tamiya's 2009 BMW M3 gt2, HPI 350Z, HPI Zonda, HPI McLaren, HPI Lotus, SpeedPassion Furai, SpeedPassion 350Z (if you can find it), and the Protoform Camaro are also solid.

Impossible to find but awesome stuff: Protoform Corvette (non WGT version), Tamiya lightweight NSXs.

What are the two bodies in the pic. They look great

vivo quevas 09-19-2014 07:05 AM

For me I like the NSX Tamiya or Hpi. I currently run the McAllister Riley DP this body work's great on our track. The BMW M3 bodies I prefer the HPI over the Tamiya BMW. I just got the Tamiya Lexus to try since I am building a TCS legal car. It seems like Tamiya doesn't want to make good bodies any more?
