I went to Home Depot and bought a lead boot in the roofing section, roughly 3lbs (48oz or 1350g) of lead that is easily cut and can be molded to fit any desired shape, by far the most cost effective source for lead weight that I've been able to locate yet:

I don't see why not. There is no body list in USGT. Only descriptive parameters for what your shell should look like. I say go for it.

RJ,

I noticed you running this body in USGT.... I know the rules say no trucks... but a minivan!? Really?

My 16 year old son and I were out in our 2001 Honda Odyssey. This awesome new generation Camaro came up beside us at a light. I was drooling. We both look at it and he looks over and me and says, "...and you drive a mini van." Cut me to the bone! :)

Of course I didn't say anything about the fact that he and his sisters were WHY we got a mini van!

I sure would hate getting beat by a minivan. That thing needs a big 10mm wing hanging off the back, a soccer ball painted on the side, and a Revlon sponsorship on the hood.

The way it is in the pic, looks to have the down force of a brick.

That's really great information. Lead is getting harder and harder to find thanks to our friends at the massive overbearing EPA. I've been resorting to melting down wheel weights from the a tire place that gives them to me for free. I make really heavy chunk weights for building RC boats and planes with them. Lead is dangerous stuff, and needs to be handled properly, but really useful in hobbies.

Regarding the minivan, Simon Pagenaud (please excuse the spelling) ran a hot-rodded Honda minivan at the 2013 Pikes Peak Hillclimb. If I recall correctly, it had over 500hp!

SAM! Funny guy!

You know, I'm going to HAVE to get an Odyssey body now!

*just to clarify, I've had a lot of real cars titled in my name, but never an Odyssey.:D

GT Minivan where are you? Fun but silly.

IndyRC_Racer 03-02-2014 04:49 PM

(Tip from a local racer)

Check out Harbor Freight if you are needing wheel weights. Here is a link to 2 different options and they are made of zinc - no lead!! (http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...=wheel+weights)

----------

Edit: Zinc isn't as dense as lead, so an ounce of zinc will be larger than an ounce of lead.
