well Im the odd ball here..I like spec, but prefer a 3-9 offset to make the car look better....Im a team player but I also like the idea of having different choices in rims and tires in GT....

spec it to a limit...to much and its 21.5 TC...imo......

i would hate to see a spec tire in USGT. There are alot of tracks that follow your rules, but each track has different traction levels, a wide range of chassis, etc. The current tire rules allow guys to use what tire works best for them, their car set up, track grip level or driver preference.

USVTA is different in that it's always been the spec tire/wheel combo.

There are Tamiya 24mm rims with different offsets. Even with a spec tire you can still use whatever rims you want. Just a 24mm is highly recommended.

Spec tire puts all cars/people on the same playing field. I am all for it. Just need to tune your car to fit the track conditions and not need different sets for different tracks... Ultimately it's your tracks decision to run the spec tire or not. Just sounds like the national events that run the class would be using the spec tire in the future so if you plan to run in that you might as well start using them.

I find the spec tire to work pretty good. I think we'll be ok.

So stay away from the HPI 26mm wheels then? (for the spec tires) Guessing they would slightly stretch the tires altering the contact patch?

Can anyone tell me how wide the Med-Narrow Tamiya wheels are?

Are they a made from a strong nylon that holds up to racing abuse? (staying true and not breaking from hits against track barriers) Or made from brittle polystyrene for good detail?

How about the hex drive pocket on the Tamiya wheels? Strong or strip out easily?

How strong/true are the RIDE brand spoked wheels?

I have 2 sets of Gravity RC spec tires coming for USGT and just need some wheels to put them on.

A guy at our track had the Ride/Dynamite wheels last two runs before they broke.

The Tamiya wheels are strong, I've never had a problem with them. I run them on my TT-01 and USGT car. They are not the same nylon that HPI wheels are made from. They are made from a different plastic, ABS?, I know because they don't take dye.

Some local guys are planning on putting the Ride tires on the Tamiya wheels.

Alrighty then, scratch the ride wheels off the list!

been running my RIDE tires on Tamiya wheels for a couple race days now, the wheels are very tough, took a hard hit into the wall today and busted the hub carrier and C hub... no problems with the wheels ;)

The RIDE tires are considerably better performing tires than the HPI Belted Radial X Patterns too, plus the RIDE tires don't wear nearly as fast either and they do so well I don't even need to sauce these tires like I had to do with the HPI tires ;)

They are the Ride rims that Gravity is selling. I dont think they are all that bad I actually like them because of the light weight and flex they have. Bill Sydor was able to TQ the Southern Nationals with my set of Ride tires on Ride rims that were cracked in a few places...I dont think that hurt his performance at all. Thats the beauty of this arrangement you can use what ever rim you like if the Ride rims are not to your liking.

Honestly if someone goes and piles their ride into a board and breaks a wheel its not the wheels fault. I dont blame the body on my car when it dents or cracks from me hitting things.
