I've had great results with the unbelted pro compound xpatterns. I run on outdoors rough asphalt and they lasted me 1.5 year running them every weekend. Mind you in summers we see 147* ground temps. I just gave them away a few weeks ago with foams showing now but they still worked good. :D
I wouldn't mind giving the above brands a try since they're 24mm. |

The USGT class was well represented in Nashville, Tennessee last weekend at the USVTA Southern Nationals! That was the second biggest class I believe at the event.

hello. Thinking of getting into this class for the winter for myself and my daughter as its one of those being offered at a track we can travel to.
My questions are this: - What older chassis designs are still competitive in this class that take stick lipos without modifications? - What chassis designs appear to be the most durable? - What kind of FDR should I be shooting for for a 50 x 50 track? - What currently is considered the hot tire for carpet racing? Thank you beforehand for any info. |

I'd say pick any belt driven design that suits your budget, i.e. Associated, Xray, Sakura... there are a couple rebrands too and I think OFNA is releasing a new TC in a couple weeks. |
Here's what you do. Get the cheapest possible used car and start racing. Around my track somebody is offloading some lightly used TC6 or Xray T4 and a bunch of parts because the latest and greatest just came out.
Seriously, every other week one of the hot shoes is selling something on the cheap. Its when you've already got something that you'll find the best deals. Works just like women... |

As for 1 and 2, I guess some designs have issues when doing spec racing do to available gearing from what I have heard, and some designs used to get up-armored in the past like the TC3 to help in the durability department (remember BRP Bumpers front and rear and nerf wings back when I ran touring). Anyway, looking forward to any info that can help. |

As for older belt chassis designs, my old Shuey Mi3.5 will be returning to the track as a USGT car. Should be fun and reasonably competitive. As for shafties, I believe my even older AE TC3 can still hold its own at the local level. |

Don't really car if its belt or shaft driven, would prefer though a metric based car if possible. Past experience with the TC3's from a durability perspective when I ran 27T and 19T brushed was the rear carriers didn't play nice with the boards without the BRP nerf wings and bumpers. Is that still the case with the TC4s? |

My son's (13 and 10) have AE TC4's for USGT and they have broken a zillion rear hubs, finally got some aluminum ones on eBay. Also 4 or 5 steering racks - I have found them to not be the most durable personally.
My X-Ray T3 has been quite durable, I may hit a few less rails than my kids, but I'm no pro. :) Hope this helps. -Rich |
