a bent alum hub will have you running circles as to why your car is all of a sudden tweaked and spinning out. stick with the graphite hubs, they never break on me.

I agree with you there. I learned my lesson when I ran the Xpress car. It's better to know you're broken rather than wondering why your car keeps spinning out and won't tweak correctly. Are you racing at Speedworld this weekend? If so I'll see you there.

Ill talk to you about it on saturday Bill. thanks guys.
See James' and STLNLST's posts. THEY KNOW. You have to get over to Speedworld because the XXX-S knowledge base there is absolutely first rate.

A major factor for me has been how rough the other drivers are driving around us. Even practice sessions have been a lesson in accident avoidance lately.

In my mind, that BRP front bumper has minimized the breakage issue on the front end. However, it did add some weight. For me, most failures from accidents are occurring on the rear hubs/arms. That's why I never used the MF front hubs; although, they could add the RED factor...he, he...

My driving style comes from years of open wheel car racing. We didn't rub fenders like Nascar. It was a style and ediquette thing...more like Rick Mears as opposed to Dale Ernhardt.

I've been playing with my setup a lot lately, actually got it working pretty well last night, but still not dialed.

Pops Siemantel was actually in town on business and dropped by the track, I was pretty surprized to see him there...

Whats the difference between running a 128 spur over a 88? I'm runnning a stock motor, on a small tight carpet track. I have a Orion Core, 21pinion and 88spur.

All the setup sheets I see use the 128 spur gear. Whats the difference?

I'm going to try to make it, my brother's birthday party is on sat. I think I can make it back to town by the time it starts though. So yeah I think I will be out there on Sat.

That's cool that Russ stopped by, he told me he was going to be down there on business.

The 128 spur is 64 pitch, the 88 is 48 pitch. The teeth on the 128 are smaller and you get a wider range of gearing options that way.

The 128 spur is 64 pitch rather than 48 pitch. 64 pitch makes the change in gear ratios finer.

Yeah, he was there for all the racing, I didn't recognize him, but he came up to talk while I was turnmarshalling by the track border.

Altro,

To switch over to 64 pitch, you need to change out both the pinion and spur gears at a cost of $10-12. While you are at it, consider using an aluminum pinion and the Losi 128 tooth Kevlar spur gear. For on-road racing, I have a selection of pinions sized from 28-33 teeth (@ $5-6 each) to use with Monster Pro motors.

Actually I prefer the plastic gears over Kevlar, they seem to be consistantly quieter.

Randman,

OK. I usually follow your leads...Noisier could mean more friction.

Let's solicit for some more comments from the XXX-S "Peanut Gallery" about plastic vs. Kevlar spur gears.

I jumped straight from 48 pitch gearing (RTR) to the 64 pitch Kevlar (G+) spur. Have seen a couple chewed up plastic XXX-S spurs; but, never had any problem with my the Kevlars on my two cars.

I have seen some of the blue plastic spurs chewed up before but only running in mod...the kevlar ones are strong but they are loud. I am going to switch to an old 128t trinity spur I have lying around with a xenon spur gear adapter. I believe PRS used to make the spurs for trinity so they should be super quiet. plus the spur and adapter are black!
