Thanks.... I know I don't want to use the Aluminum screws in the front and rear piviot supports.... I would think that in a big crash a lot of force is applied to those pieces and I would hate to snap the screw off .

The Rivergate stuff is really solid. You still see guys that bought them 8 years ago and still running them. The newer ones have a slim design as well.

Go with the Rivergate. I have had a few Pyramid that just wouldnt hold up.

One other question... Beteween the P-94, Reedy/Fantom TI, Peak/Orion Chrome/Auora... what mod motor would you suggest.... or any other that I didn't mention. I am looking to get a 8 Single. Do the Nebula/Chrome Touring bascically the same thing?

I am in the D4/P94 Camp. I would place a second option to the Fantom line of TIs.

I would based the decision on availbility of brushes (p94 takes a different size) and extra arms.

Cost-wise they are all about the same level.

I have decided to give the P-94 the go ahead... Should I get the Regular Single Wind or the layered double wind? This is a technical track that needs lots of torque. I think Andrew G runs a 6 or 7 turn Fantom Single.

Remember that the lower winds are much harder on the batteries. Start with a double.

I beleive this was Andrew Grays setup from Octoberfast:

Front: oil: 70, piston: 56, #4 shock position, #2 camber link, arms forward, 2 deg. kick up, 4 deg. castor, .062 sway bar, blue congo springs, standard diff, low roll center, #2 on droop guage

Rear: oil: 70, piston: 56, #4 shock position, 1B camber link, outside on lower arm, -2 camber, 0 antisquat, 5 on droop guage, arms in middle, low roll center

Other: 3.5mm ride height, JACO Plaid front, purple rear

MDawson, You seem to be very knowledgeable on the XXX-S and I was wondering if I could get some setup ideas from you? We have a Very High Bite concrete (tight) track that we race at. I have raced on carpet and the bite on this concrete is equal to or higher. I used Paul Lemieux's carpet setup with the exception of: 57 pistons front, front diff, 1.5 camber, stock caster, purple springs front, blue springs rear, rear droop 3, .062 front swaybar. I have ran the stock setup only to have the car pin dramatically. With this setup the car was stable but had too much push entering and during the middle of the corner and very lazy on exit. It didnt transition fast enough. For tires we tried 33r/blue insert, 27r/blue insert,27r/red insert, 138g/firm insert, and finally ended up using med yok/soft molded insert. The fast guys were running 33r/firm yok foam inserts!? I tried them and the car became very unstable at all speeds. Isnt the norm to use firmer inserts as the bite increases? Any observations and ideas would be greatly appreciated by at least 4 of us XXX-S racers.

There is only one carpet track in southern California and havent been there to test out carpet.

Other than that track all of the other tracks are outdoors with exeption for So Cal.

I kept Grays setup as something to try on carpet. As it gets further into the carpet season, you'll be sure to find more options.
