It's leaps ahead of the FF-01 I drove back in 1996 at the TCS Finals. Sorry, the pics aren't the best, but the iPhone 3g can only do so much. The pics should answer most questions

1. Tranny is from our new TRF201 buggy.
2. Suspension=lightweight suspension from TB-03, TA-05 V2 and TRF 416
3. All the aluminum suspension blocks fron the above cars work on this kit.
4. The kit will fit all current LiPo and old school NiCd/NiMh on the market. See pics.

More to come...
Sweet!

I love how Tamiya does this. I have 2 TA05s, a TA05-IFSR, and a TRF416WE, and one batch of suspension spares and blocks covers the lot.

The more I see that car. The more I think: "Come on, Tamiya could have done a better job than that."
-Inboard suspension on a simple 2WD touring car?
-Small diameter diff with tiny diff screw while FWD guys like to crank that thing down?
-Not the standard touring car transmission parts but specific 2WD US style buggy parts (first tamiya with 2.4mm diff balls!?). Even the TRF 501/511 uses 3mm balls.
-Heavy top-mounted layshaft/spur gear adaptor combo compared to the FF01.
-Inline battery is nice with NI-CD/NI-MH but with a lipo it moves the heavy steering servo to much to the side.

It'll go faster than a FF01 but thats only due to the much better modern (longer, stronger, more precise,...) suspension arm combo.

... But than again, I'll sure get 1

Certainly.
That gear cover looks like the one used on the Dark Impact (and perhaps others) and so does the motor mount.

The FF-03 will land on US shores by the end of the first week of June. Hobby shops will get them shortly thereafter. They are already on a boat from Japan.

The gearing options are pretty varied. You can adjust pinion and spur to the geearing you need. Let me assure you, big pions fit within the gear cover.

Rtype C. Build your own car

The weight balance of the car is what it should be for a FF car.

Off the bat, I would recommend people get the Aluminum diff joint and universals for the car. If you want, the aluminum suspension mounts would be good too. From there the sway bar set coming should be fun to try.

So does the PRO not some with universals? I don't see them on the included hop-up list on tamiyausa.com.
