As the man says a 3T for drifting is overpowered to the point of being useless.
I've tried various motors in my drifters from 5.5T brushless to 17x2 brushed.
Best motor so far is the Speed passion V3 13.5T
With the XeRun Esc running in supercharged mode i've got great control through the rev range then that extra kick to get me out of trouble if i need it.
Cheers

thats a problem i see more and more frequently in drifting. high end electronics and very mod motors. Yet they are still going slow.
And I agree with gixer, a 13.5 w/ turbo has the best throttle and torque range for drifting a touring car.
I solely use my cup racer nowadays for drift and I still find my hpi 15t firebolt good enough for drifting....

gee deigima that is pretty overkill to use a tcx for drifting.. why not just use a jl10e or something??
anyway... I am starting to look into setup sheets for the tcx to apply onto my cyclone exotek hbx, i figure that since i am running a lipo oriented chassis with the belts flipped the car would be more reactive similar to the tcx.

Some of the trickest chassis's i've seen have been in the pits of drifting comps.
Everything from TRF416X's, Mi4's, Cyclones all the way down to TT01's.
At the competitive level it's pretty damn close and having a little bit more adjustment on the chassis makes a massive difference.

jl10e= failed
i just looked at the jl10e, its too basic and has no appeal to me. i want belt driven firstly, and i want a design thats even remotely as smart as the txc's. the only thing i would like changed on the tcx is a drift conversion kit that includes parts that allow you to
1 front-mount your engine for better drift performance and
2 drift-spec suspension parts
i especialy liked the twin pole steering thingo... its great
the main reason i chose the tcx is because of its tunability. and the flexability of the car when tuning it. andy moore was on hpi-tv talking about how its more flexable when it comes to tuning. "it doesnt need a perfect setting to be a competitive as some other cars" i think was the quote hara or andy made... cant remember which said that, but they both say similar things about it. andy had a rant about how its club suitable too. i just see it as a great car.
