Indoor stock, fully up with a Sanyo 3000 and all the currently available lightweight bits, 1420g Outdoor mod, with GP3300 and all the standard bits, save for my delrin drive cups for the prop, 1560g. I have built a spool out of Evo3 bits (reinforced outdrives and a plastic gear) for tommorow's racing, so it should weigh in about 30g lighter. So, if you're outdoor, leave most/all of the original bits in. If indoor and not required to make the weight, use all the Ti bits and lightened propshaft bits etc. :D |

Okay, that gives me a good idea of what I need.
I have ordered: Stabilizer Set Tamiya Ti screw set Tamiya Ti Turnbuckles 23mm Tamiya Lightweight Universals Tamiya Aluminium Ball Connectors + Having a Ball Diff up front with Lightweight Diff Balls throughout front and rear. Aside from that, I've just bought spares. My car will probably be around 1450 I think, maybe a lil less. I also have a Futaba S9550 servo and Novak GT7 in there, and a Tamiya Super Stock TZ or RZ will be in there too. I've just ordered some great scales to weigh all of my cars to see what they are. Want them to be as light as possible!!! BUT LEGAL!! |
Well ran the car for the first time on carpet in 19t. Used BSR 28mm foams. Orange/Purple Front and Purple Rear. Car was okay but could have had a much better setup. Rear end was loose. I didn't put much effort into trying to setup the car because we only raced carpet since it rained today. So back to asphalt next time. I will say I'd like to try my 415 on carpet next time out though. I feel it will be much smoother than the Evo IV was. But we'll see. Anyway's the Pro4 front spindles held up and had excellent clearance for the 28mm foams. I just wish they had a thicker chassis for the car.... Oh and the GTX esc worked great. First time out with that...
|
Which is better, the TB Evo 4 or the TRF 415?
|
Kilruf...You think the car will be good with a thicker chassis on carpet? I still have mine....Havent sent it back to dave yet (sorry dave!!). Thought about trying it on carpet before I sent it off. Our track opens up next weekend. 72x48. Should be fun!!
Wouldnt mind finding a 415 with a front diff to try either!! EA |
EA, I thought the car was yours?? :weird: Just a loaner from Dave? Ain't that the shnitz... Anyway,s I didn't really have time on the car to set it up. We were suppose to race asphalt that day. But since it rained, we just prepped up the carpet track and ran it instead. So first round I just tossed on a set of foams (60mm) with no change in setup except ride height. Then 2nd round I tossed on a set of AE White/Purple springs. I think 3rd round I took off the 2° caster blocks that I run on asphalt and stuck on the 4° blocks. For the main I just added 1mm more shims under the rear camber link. So I was slowly working on the setup throughout the day. But not really enough time to set it up right. The rearend liked to hang out/drift. So I had to fight that the whole time. Tons of steering goin in. And noticable torque steer with the 19t. I'd very much prefer the 415 on carpet if I can build a diff for it. I'd just like the Evo IV to be a bit smoother through the turn. I also had -60% steering EXP to start with. I should set it back to 0 and start there. Anyways... more than likely I won't be til November before I get to run on carpet again... unless if it rains... By then I should have built a diff for the 415.
