Here's a better idea. Keep them both.

The Associated plastic antenna base/shock mount found in MANY cars now, has three holes in it. I mounted the shock in the rear-most hole, and shortenend up the shock length with shorter ball links. I took a stock rollover mast and inserted it into the middle hole in the mount. In the side of the mount, I drilled a .0625" hole straight through with a bit of an angle towards the top of the mount. In the front hole, I used a short flex antenna to house the DSM antenna, which was cut to 3.6" short.

Everything works perfectly with a 19T. I will use this same setup on all future 12th scale cars.

you could do all that, but I just wrapped it around the upright antenna and then heat shrunk it down. ends up being just about .5" of looped antenna at the base of the upright. I ran it wil a 9x2 with no cap or rx pack.

any1 have any pics of a 1/12 with brushless? I want to see some pics and also if any1 has any experience with running a brushless. They looks so big and heavy, was not sure how well it would work in a 1/12

Here's my 12L4 with a brushless set up:

Man is it ever smooth! And it flies when I ask it to.

Thats what he ran. He had the power to pull 10 car lengths at will on the straight anytime any brushed car challenged him.

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase the front end brace shown below?

Here is a pic of my Rugrat I ran last weekend at HTSA, car was very fast and runtime was great. W/3700s I had between 800-900mah of runtime left after each race. Car felt like a brushed motor, the BL motor weighs 10g lighter than my brushed motor and the Shpere is around 10g heavier than my QC2. I was geared at 35.5mm rollout, motor temp was 150*F and Sphere was 140*F. Overall I was very impressed and didn't touch the motor once

so is this your regional's setup?

P2 10-10-2005 01:54 PM

I would like to run the BL for mod, I was fighting setups all day and the car was very hard to drive (but fast). I'm not sure if it was due to the BL or not  I will give it a try again next weekend and see what happens...of course the track layout is going to change in the next 2 weeks.
For Stock I'm using a QC2 w/handout motor.
See you soon,
Paul

Nice Job P2,

I'm very much looking forward to brushless coming through and getting miniaturized it will be great for all classes and 12th scale in particular. Do you find it throws your left right balance off much? a smaller ESC would be great.

Chris

Chris

I ordered my brushless system for my T bar car today. I will run it in modified at the regionals in Gilroy in a few weeks.

Charging batteries while hardwired

Forgive my ingnorance,

I just started hardwiring my motor and batteries; is it necissary to unsolder the battery before charging it or can you leave the battery pack in the car soldered and just charge it? I'm concerned about my esc.

BTW Novak Atom ESC, okay for 19 turn or past it's prime?

Thank you, Kevin

you can charge while it is connected.
