Is 150mah rx pack enough compacity to run a whole 8 minutes on? :weird:

AdrianM 07-30-2005 09:03 PM

We have been running 50Mah pack for 8 min for years. 150Mah is probably enough to do 2 quals and a main without recharging.

Randy Caster 07-30-2005 09:07 PM

Are the 150mah cells still the 1/3AAA size?

If you want a really cheap battery pack go to Wall-Mart and look for a 9v rechargeable NiMh battery. Read the package and you will see some are actually 7.2v and some are 8.4v. If you carefully open the 9v container you will find 6 (7.2v) or 7 (8.4v) 120-160Mah 1/3AAA cells inside

That's a pretty dialed trick. I ordered a promatch pack for now, but I might try the 9v trick if I need em.

Whats the best way of deciding what gearing to run?
I have a CRC Bloody knife that i got to run for the first time last friday. Unfortunately there isn't anyone to race against that would give me some indication of the correct gearing.
I ran it with a 10double Orion V2. After one pack i felt the motor and it was warm but not hot however the car seemed to have good top end and acceleration. My pinion/spur combo was 32/96 with 50mm tyres. Was that about right?

Thanks
Terry

You can get two runs from the 150mah pack. I wouldn't try to get the third. But, that is good. I always recharge after a run. I spend about 10 minutes at .15amp.

new to 1/12

hi guys im getting into 1/12 racing at halo hobbies. i plan on getting the rc12l4 and was hoping for some pointer with this car. thanks in advance for any help such as hopups, best motor for stock and mods servos tires. thanks again.

tekone

this is how I run stock, there is no mod class where I run at the moment

Motor - Epic Roar stock geared to about 1.65" rollout (suit to track)

Servo - futaba 9602 good servo, I can't afford $100 for the KO 949

Tires - Asphalt - Right now I'm running green rear and dbl pink front, be careful with the sauce on the front, go purple front if you wan a little security.

tires - carpet - Rear - White maybe Grey for a T-bar car. Front purple

i like to run damper tubes but you will need to replace the brace and the motor top plate, if you run carpet I have heard good things about the rugrat conversion.

Where I race the three wise men (or whatever you want to call them. We have yet to discover what it is they are wise about) all run the yokomo car and have some good success with it.

Don't listen to Chris (or the three wise men) if you want to stay slow...he, he...

Wise men = jrrc, odpurple and crashby

Actually, Chris is the fourth muskateer!

Action at Ripon gentlemen...

Tekone- Even though i really like the Speedmerchant Rev 4 I really would like to suggest Josh's car as an option for you to consider. You are right at his track and he and everyone else would be able to really get you dialed on that car and parts for it would be right from the source. There are a couple of guys i'm thinking of (a father/son combo) there who are awesome guys, the son's nick name when he gets mad is "dr. evil" and his dad is an awesome painter of rc bodies. I think the son's name is Dave, i met them last year at the Norrca Nat's so look them and Josh up.

The car itself from what little i've seen around here works great so you may want to talk to them first and see what they can do for you.

Regarding general info i personally like the following list but others here may be able to steer you better.

- Servo= JR 3550Z
- Speedo= Novak GTX
-Batteries= SMC 3800
-Motors= DC Motors (Mod and Stock)
-Bodies= Speed 12 (Protoform) or Speed 8 (Parma) and Josh's bodies work really well but i don't remember the designation(s).
-Tires=T.M. Tires (there are others like Jaco, TRC,Parma and BSR, all are great)
-Traction Compound= Paragon Ground Effects

-If you still have questions i am sure that more knowledgable people will be able to answer from here. HTHs.

Bill,

Yes I'm looking forward to Ripon this weekend, my T-fource was nails last time out, I went to the greens on the back and could hold full throttle though the carousel and the esses, was never able to do that before. First time the MS2.2 was not the best car at Ripon but there was a couple of issue with it which i think I have corrected.

While I remember Bill....

I'm the FIRST Musketeer. :D

Chris.
