So if you were going to run mod carpet, what car would you get? (Leaning to the carpet knife)

darnold- thanks for the start in the right direction......sooooooo much to read........lol

Duke_1 08-06-2002 08:23 PM

alex- you racing this weekend????????

EricF & Boomer- I think that there is a difference in ackerman between the two mounting positions but I am unsure what it is. My experience this past season was that laying your servo flat on the chassis was worth the equivelant of 10% more steering dual rate(end point). You do have to watch the mounting points on the steering blocks because if the ball studs are too low you may get bump steer. This can be remedied by using taller ball studs on the steering blocks.

Duke1- No problem, I know that there is a lot to read but I think that knowing why we do things and under what cirumstance we do them is more valuable than simply knowing what we do. Often we make changes/adjustments to what we have for various reasons and people won't even know. It's seems pretty common for people to get the very "basic" setup not realizing that all it may take is a change or build difference "here or there" and you will get two different handling cars.

Nah, waiting on parts. I've got the T/C broke down to parade rest. Nothing on the chassis but electronics. Getting almost all new plastic parts. Waiting on a servo for the 1/12. I'll be up there though to see the action. Considering dusting off the A2 (considering), but that's not written in stone. I have to see what shape I left it in before I shelved it. We'll see. Know a mini servo they don't need?

hey guys,
thank you for the advice. I guess I'll stick to my kawada for a little while longer. Still haven't found me a setting which will allow me to chase down the pro10s and F103s :o

Assoc 1/12 set-up

Hi guys,

I just found this thread and looked through about two dozen pages for an asphalt set-up.
Sorry to say that there is no 1/12 class here at So Cal Raceway. I occasionally run my 1/12 car with the pro 10 cars and have done well.

I know little about setting up this car (expert off road racer) and have done the following: .020 springs/ 0 degree blocks up front/ purple fronts w 2 degree camber/ grey rears. This set-up works pretty good but I want to beat those pro 10's (not just most of them....I wanna beat e'm all!) I need more corner speed, not just turn-in.

Can anyone direct me to a good page/set-up in this thread? You guys have forgot more about these cars than I know.....

Hope the pro 10 guys at my track don't see this thread.....Ignore the man behind the curtain.....

Too late...:sneaky:

You should set the car up for 4-cell though and run it at Camarillo’s two-day race.

stiffen ur center spring for more on power steering of soften it for more off power, then change the center shock oil for reaction speed, then go to AE .18 front springs.
