Hey Darnold,

How's it going, man? Petenis and I are going to run stock 1/12 next weekend and we were wondering what ( if any) changes we should make to the cars? Or do we just whip a stocker in, dial some steering out of the radio, and go? We are still in the Nats track configuration, so what would be a good ratio/rollout to start with? I am using the same tires that I used in the Nats, and haven't measured them, but they are smaller than 1.95"

Thanks.
Dave

my day was great, got to run my 1/12th for the first time, won by 3 laps, granted the comp wasn't all that great but my car was running awesome. I was racing in a stock pan car class, I ran 4 cells w/ a green machine, every one else was running 1/10th and 6 cells

Well after almost two months of messing with my 12L3 I finally finished a main and got 2nd rolling in on 3 wheels! I've been having a lot of servo and ESC troubles. I had a Tekin that burned up and took out my Futaba. Then I got a Hitc that stripped on me pretty fast. After that I got some Hobbico's that I thought were stripped but it just so happens that it was my servo saver that was stripped. Every time I hit a wall I would have to stop and adjust my steering trim to adjust it!! Glade all that is behind me.

Just wanted to tell everyone how much I am finally enjoying 1/12 scale racing. Thanks to Jonny Socko for his setup for Finish Line.

newracer 06-09-2002 07:33 PM

were you using the correct servo saver? Hitec requires a 24 tooth, if you use 23 or 25 it will strip

vthondaboi - it goes "women are liek a game of bridge, if you dont have a good partner you better have a good hand"

I'm pretty sure it was the wrong piece that goes between teh servo saver and the servo. We switched that out a few times to find one that works.

shrekair

When referring to "bridge" perhaps the women I see aren't as old as yours?
:D

vthondaboi :: Ha Ha Ha!!! Just keep ahold of that wheel and your will do fine. As sensitive as your steering is never release the wheel and let it center itself. Keep a constant feel of the car and you have better results.

Didnt get to race my new car...again...maybe in the next week or 2.....oh well...waitin' on the correct rear springs.

Dragon Slayer 06-10-2002 09:00 PM

Nuttin' much to say...just wanted to get this thread to 1000 posts......where is everyone.....everybody quit 1/12 cause its summer??????

Hey Dragon Slayer,

How's it going? What kind of springs are you waiting for? Are they the tweak springs on a CRC? Are you running a 6-pack or a regular version 3.1? I have a 3.1 lying around not doing anything and was going to prep it for a back up for the 12L3 just in case something major happened to it that I didn't have parts to fix. What kind of stuff would you suggest for springs, shock oil, dampener tube goo, and front end setup? I was thinking about ordering an old style front end for it, but it acted so nice with the dynamic caster front in the stock motor days. Just looking for a little hint or two.

I was running .020 springs up front, with the zero degree blocks, purple front TRC or Jaco. I used 40 wt. losi silicone shock oil in the shock, stiff silver spring from CRC, and red tweak springs. It has been a while since I ran stock, but I think I used to roll out around 45-50, with a P2K2 or a P2K. Is there anything that screams out,"wrong!" in my setup? I run at TCHR in Minnesota, which is a large track.

Thanks for any info.
Dave

OK, just got my 12L3. She looks really pretty... Now what? I have experience with offroad and TC's... What will I need to know when it comes to 1/12? Is there anything I should look at getting? How does one figure out what pinion/spur to use? I see people refer to roll-out. What might that be? I feel like Cole Trickle in Day's of Thunder. I can drive, but no very little about cars. (I know a lot about full size, but I know just enough to be dangerous with 1/12 scale).

vthondaboi 06-10-2002 09:40 PM

Trikster - I am in the same exact stage as you.

davidl 06-11-2002 03:58 AM

Trikster - You should polish the pivots for the tee bar.

Darnold, I ran my 12th heap after racing (a.k.a. trying to avoid being hit) on saturday, and wow! its awesome it is perfectly balanced. It doesn't push at all and it isn't loose either. All it does is carve real nice, and it's easir on tires since I don't have all that steering dialed in to counter act the push. Thanks alot.

I may be getting a B3 (I know, it's the DARK SIDE) just for some variety, and there is more people showing up for it than the six sedan guys that show up. I figure any racing is racing, so why not give it a whack, right?
