I can't wait to run this thing

go ahead and post the opinions. For me the main thing would be durability.

Speedworld

Does anyone in this thread run 1/12th scale at Speedworld a lot? If so what tire compound seems to work the best there?

Batt question...

i have a few older packs i used to run in my touring car, unmatched i can convert then to 4 cell, sanyo 3300's and 2400s if i was to run spec class, would they last 300 seconds???

Super Steve 05-01-2004 10:18 AM

They should last 5 min depending on your gearing and motor

Mostly pink and purple might try white rear but mostly pink and purple

ok, how can I make a speedmerchant car work on Asphalt, I'm not interested in hearing people say that it can't be done, thats defeatist. I run a modified Rev3 but it's more like a Rev4 with my modifications.

JOHNB!!

Hey, you didn't make it to April Fools Classic. Oh well, there's always next year. I just got an L4 and raced it on Saturday. It was ducking fialed! I was comparing it to an L3 and they look very similar. I was spankin' everybody until the screw that holds my servo saver in came loose. Oh well, next week I'll lay the smack down. You guys are running 12th scale up there, that's cool. Is there a big race that includes 12th scale there, if so I might attend. Thats sounds like fun. Talk to you later!

Hey, how are ya? Yes, we're running carpet in an old mall here. it's about half empty so they let our club run really cheap. The track is 100'x36'.
Where are you racing down there? Carpet or Asphalt?
Not sure if we'll have any trophy races, maybe we'll try to get one together. Are there many on racers down there that would like to come up here for an indoor carpet race.

take care
john

Full-size soft tires in the back, pinks. Purples in the front. 5-6mm of ride height. Soften up the back a bit, maybe blues or orang. Maybe a red or silver shock spring, little lighter oil. You might want to try the newer style front end. I talked to bruce, he said that's all you really need to do.

stormperson 05-03-2004 04:06 AM

eagle- are you running the rev. 4 or rev. 3 chassis plate? If you are running the 3, i would really suggest picking up the 4 (unless you cut the chassis yourself) since on asphault where you have alot of body roll, it will make the most difference going to a narrower chassis (it wont rub).

Spyderx's set up is pretty much what everyone runs on asphault, and the car is dialed on the blacktop, Mo almost won the paved nats last year, except a corner marshall had a run in with his car.
Defently run the old style front end, and to make it easer to drive you can add castor.

Thanks for your input, I'm running pinks and purples, good size. I think I had too firm a center spring (red) I have a softer one which I'll try. I was running the blue side springs I'm going to change to orange and see. I have modified and cut the chassis down rev4 ish. I'm running lots of ride hieght also.

What should my castor be? currently I cut my front old stlye blocks down with 2 degrees on. The new stlye front end, do you mean the V-force? or the associated thing? (never used it before).

I'm in Northern California, it's pretty hot and my Paragon is gone by the 4th minute. By this time, I'm pushing badly on my way into the corner and when I hit the throttle on the way out, it's spin out city, as far as I can tell, I have the worst of both worlds.

Any thoughts about damper juice?

Finally what about the low roll centre cones? even if they won't work can someone tell what they do, I know they come with the rev4 kit.

Thanks for your help guys, it's annoying to drive so badly, I'm pretty good on carpet and not happy being at the back of the grid.

Rev 4 on Asphalt

I currently use TRC Cyans in front with Pinks in the rear.

Blue center spring

I am running old-style blocks in the front with no castor or camber (and am getting even tire wear).

I am running Josh's CEFX body to minimize push.

I am not pushing badly but have to be very gentle on the acceleration out of the corners (if you are running mod make sure you aren't using a stock setting on your speedo). Since the rear goes out when not much forward speed, the body type won't help keep the rear planted.

I have ordered some TRC Platinums (softer than Pinks) for the rear. To go with such, I have ordered some TRC tans and also pinks to try in the front.

I had fun this weekend.. Ran my Rev 3 this weekend and it was on rails.. I was almost 2 full seconds faster this time than I was the last time I raced.

The best part was being alot more consistent than before also. I can't wait to practice some more as I think I can go a little faster with more wheel time.

I have a Rev 4 conversion sitting waiting to be installed... I wonder what that will do... ?? ;)

thanks for all the help guys!

For stock-when you go to the rev4-try a heavier fluid in the dampers-that is assuming your around the Blue side spring weight. It handles different doe be prepared to make some changes. Its more consistent over the long run too.
