Thanks for the replies and keep them coming I will try all. My first thought was the battery but I think motor contact may be it but I may just be overlooking something. If I can fix it I will share the results. Thanks again.

Do the chassis prep...(sand & glue) Before you do anything else.... It takes very little CA to do also. |

Proper Gearing
Hi, I am new to 1/12 scale racing and I am a bit confused on how to gear my CK3.1 Guys at my local track use 17T 48 pitch pinion on a 75T spur on a 9turn double Orion Core Mod Motor. I asked them how they come up with the gearing and they seemed to forget. How do you really determine the correct Pinion to use on your motor with 1/12 cars. Any info will be greatly appreciated.:)

FATBOY JOE
Sir,
they come up with the spur gear, pinion combo by using the rollout formula. Rear Tire Diameter x Pi (3.14) x PINION (number of teeth), then DIVIDE by the SPUR (number of teeth) = ROLLOUT if stock 40-43 and rollout, for mod should be much lower! see you soon at the tracks with your 1/12 "sorry for the mistake of saying to gear up for mod, i lost my head somewhere while replying to the post at 3am here, manila time!" (Stupid me! SORRY) FATBOY/HIGHWAYMAN:like whatthe guru's said- gear down for mod |
if stock 40-43 and rollout, for mod higher up to 53. |
How many packs would a set of foam tires last on an indoor carpet track? I'm interested in getting a 1/12 scale car but I don't want to spend loads of money on the tires  .

I would gear down, (lower rollout) for a mod motor. Tire size (mm) * 3.14 Divided by gear ratio (spur divided by pinion) = rollout. Example: Gear ratio = 100 spur Divided by 27 pinion = 3.703 to one 45 MM tire * 3.14 = 141.3 (tire circumfrence) 141.3 Divided by 3.703 = 38.158 MM of travel of the car for one rotation of the motor. Rollout = 38.158 mm I think you would get about 5 to 15 races out of a set of tires. Driving style, compound, quality of tires, how often you true them............... I am on my second set on my Carpet Knife, Bought it in January and only race stock. Bodies and Tires are what you will go through the most. I have also broken about 4 bumpers. I just bought my second body. Help this helps. |
bodies and tires only last a few weeks. a lightweight body is literally a lap faster than a heavyweight, and they last just as long (the heavyweights crack really easy for some reason).

What are some of the bodies that the professional 1/12th scale drivers are using?
