Easy. Just use the fan post from muchMore and mount the fan on the end bell.

Ceramics offer a lower rolling resistance so thay make the car feel smoother and more free. But this comes at a high price and I have found them to be a bit more fragile on crashes, but that might just be me.

[QUOTE=flatspunout;4270477]How are you FK04 owners mounting motor cooling fans? /QUOTE]

What motor setup are you using? What pinion and spur?

We race in Chicago and generally don't see track temps go way above 100. One time last year in August the pavement outdoors was 134 degrees and some guys were thermaling. They just dropped down a tooth or two for pinion and all was well.

I've been racing a FK04 for a few years now with minimal repairs needed. yesterday the long belt started twisting upside down on the front transmission. I had noticed in the past few months that the long belt wasn't very taut.

Should I just replace the belt or try and adjust tension first?

You can try tensioning the belt by rotating the diff bearing carriers, or even running a tensioner. Usually when the belt starts to flip it will want to keep flipping. I would get a new belt as a spare, and try adding tension to the existing belt. If it keeps flipping, change the belt.

Does anyone have a ROAR legal lipo solution for the FK04? I have yet to find a saddle pack or stick pack that will fit in any of the battery mounting locations. I haven't seen any dimensions for the "coming soon" Orion saddle pack lipos but I assume they will be close to the other saddles in size so they probably won't fit either. Also, how compatible is the 04 chassis with brushless? I haven't compared brushless/brushed cans and am wondering if there is room. I love my 04 but I am ready to move on to brushless/lipo technology and am afraid the car will not allow it...any suggestions welcome!

4800 SaddleBack lipo's by Trakpower was just approved by ROAR. Go to ROAR websight you can see what lipo's are legal.

One of my FK04's was converted to being able to run side-by-side batteries just like a FK05. You could try that before giving up.

Tried that too...even the smallest Orion stick pack lipo was too long for the side-by-side battery strap

try just using tape to strap down the batteries. I have to do that to hold my lipos in. I run the T1 Evo 2

Can you just tape it in? I dont use the battery strap on my FK05 just tape. You might have to make some tape slots though.

The taping MIGHT work if I ran a stick pack on one side, but the 04 drives so much better with saddles and it really needs the factory battery straps to add stiffness to the chassis. I have tried nimh saddles with tape and with the straps, and there is a noticeable difference in handling between the two. Without the straps there is just too much flex in the chassis. Maybe a BMI carpet top deck would stiffen it up a bit but I would have to try it. Chad any pics of the Evo2 with the battery strapped in? Any other ideas?
