check this out

It doesn't take long to do and its really easy (just remember, it voids your warranty on the Spektrum!)

Im interested in buying a helios although cant decide. I used to have a Mars but have now switched to a hitec CRX. im now in the market for a new radio and thought about going back to the mars because it was a nice design that fit comfortably in my hand, but people say the helios is the best so far.

what are your opinions, i race electric buggy and nitro touring but not to full competition level - just club racing. I just need something to control my car, with more than standard features.

your thoughts?

I am running the Helios and think it's a great transmitter, but my teammate used to use the Futaba 3PK.
He recently switched to a Mars, because he thought the 3PK was too heavy and the Mars is way more comfertable.
It's a proven transmitter and still very good, IMO you don't need to buy the Helios, but maybe you can visit a hobbyshop (or track) and see how it feels.

what i like about the helios is the larger screen with backlight, customizable menu (show what you use, hide what you dont), small fast receiver. thats about it, other than that, the Mars has the same features. Is the mars a discontinued product? should i just go for the helios because its current? i can get a mars R $123AUD ($93US) cheaper than the helios here.

As far as it is here in the US, the Mars is a discontinued product. It still can get serviced from the office here in the US. You can definitely purchase a Mars R, but the availability for receivers may be limited due the fact the module is not compatible with the older Mars receivers, the 297-FZ models, but will work with the current 301F models. Hope this info helps.

Default module cases

does anyone know if it is possible to buy just the case for the modules? I have a 502 super module that is about 6 months old and the case is warped from the heat put out by this module.

not to happy about this to say the least. will post pics when I get home.

Wauuu...How did that happen?? I've never seen a module warp due to the heat produced.

May be I got a dud module. The only thing I can think of is I did do a 2.4 hour enduro race with 2 other drivers in my team. The transmitter would have been on for 48 minutes worth of driving. 50 minutes tops. also of note is the module has always been warm to the touch

pics are from a camera phone but you can still see the warping
