How do i read gear ratio?As in is the gear ratio higher or lower better?
#1487
Higher means more acceleration and lower means higher top speed. Basically it means if you have a final drive ratio of 7 it means that for every 7 turns of the motor you get one turn of the wheels. As is my understanding. It depends on your motor how high or low you can go with your ratios.

It comes down to what you want your car to do, do you prefer acceleration or top end speed? There are limits to how high or low you can go depending on your motor. I am unsure of if it makes a big difference changing the gear ratios at the pinion, center or diff pulleys. I like mine around 8 or 9 as i like high acceleration, suits my track and style.
basically to calculate your FDR it works like this;
Spur teeth divided by pinion teeth = Primary Drive ratio (A)
Diff pulley divided by center pulley = Internal Gear Ratio (B)
the A times B = Final Drive ratio
so my Ta05v2 works like this;
70/18 = 3.888888
36/16 = 2.25
3.8888*2.25 = 8.75:1
if wanted a higher top end speed setup i do this;
70/18 = 3.8888
36/18 = 2 <----i change the center pulley to an 18t
FDR = 7.77777:1
or you can get a pinion with more teeth and get higher top end or less teeth and get more acceleration.
are they the same calculations that you are using for the 5.75:1 ratio?
does that help? it all confused the hell out of me to start with, mainly because of the whole anti-n00b wording on such matters, but its easy once you get it.

7.7 is roughly about stock FDR for my ta05v2 I think so it's not a top speed setup but higher than the 8.75:1

Does anyone happen to have part numbers for
Blue aluminum gearboxes (Assuming the spool will fit in it)
Blue aluminum front uprights (c-parts)
Anything helps.
Thanks
For the fourth race in a row, I managed to snap my right C-hub for the FOURTH time.. Stripped out the bottom of the uprights and also ripped out the ball cup holder on the gearbox stripping the plastic there too and lost the plastic spacer (A3).
At least I stocked up on plastic C-hubs..

you will need the ifs front bulkhead if you have a ifs/ifs-r/v2/v2-r, p# 54019
http://www.speedtechrc.com/store/ebp...id=865&id=7606
and the standard ta05 bulkhead for the rear, p# 53990

not sure about the front uprights tho. i would stay with the carbon reinforced stuff. better replacing that than having messed up expensive aluminum pieces.

fyi, the tamiya blue crack bulkheads are flippin expensive but are made so much better than the 3 racing ones in terms of fitment and precision. the spool will fit.

And you're right about the aluminum I'll probably try the carbon.
Thanks

I would have but the bearings came in the mail after I left for the track. Just started building it today.

Hey guys I just got the EXOTEK EX05 chassis and wanted to know if anyone has a decent setup for a asphalt track that would not mind to share with me. I tried just about everything and anything this past weekend and the car has a really bad push coming out of a turn. The minute I touch the throttle car wants to spinout. I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestion from everyone and thanks in advance.

Anyone know if this two parts can be use on the TA05 VER.II?
