Taking it completely apart will give you a chance to clean that puppy up too. Just use your wife or girlfriend's toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies. Just remember to clean the toothbrush again before you put it back with her things... :lol:

My TC3 will be making it's debut this Tuesday night unless something comes up and prevents me from making it.

I still have a list of things to do with my TC3.

I have really under estimated my tc3. Last Sunday, it was up against 415, 417, t2, and t3's and it completely decimated at my local track. At first the tc3 ran into problems due to spur stripping out and suspension set up being out of spec. With all deficiencies aside, the car proved it's worth. Running consistent sub 18 sec lap times compared to my Tamiya TA06 with sub 19 sec lap times. gear consist of "see signature below" with 5.07 FDR with 135 F temp after 10 min race. After the second race, a handful of racers decided to check out my chassis and was dumbfounded that it was a tc3. Don't let your tc3's go. Keep the chassis strong and hopefully AE would re-release the chassis like what they did with the tc4

Guys, I am getting back into racing and am bringing my old TC3 out of retirement. I am looking for some suggestions on suspension setup. I am running on a well-maintained, prepped outdoor asphalt track. I would say that it has medium-high to high grip. The tires I am using are Sorex 36R. My car is a standard TC3 model with the aluminum shocks, but otherwise stock. I am going to run novice class, so something that is easy to drive and as neutral as possible would be what I am looking for.

Any suggestions? Thanks!!

GeekSpeed, I've raced VTA a few times at my local track on the parking lot during the summer. Carpet setup vs pavement setup were slightly different and most of it was in shock oil. I run Silver front springs with 35wt oil and green rear springs with 30wt oil on carpet. For the pavement I went 25wt front and 20wt rear. You can't go softer on springs unless you run green front and rear. The other thing I ended up doing was raising my ride height 1.5mm from 5mm just to help clear some of the bigger rocks/pebbles that might get kicked into the racing groove from other cars that might get pushed into the marbles. Another suggestion, get another set of tires just for pavement. The tires I used for carpet then for pavement were junk in 2 weekend worth of racing. When I got new tires they lasted the rest of the summer with minimal wear.

Just my experience with pavement racing. Your results will vary, lol.

Really the best thing to do is just get out there and start working with 1 thing at a time. No other way to go about it other then just doing it.

I've had fantastic success with my TC3 over the summer in New Zealand. I have won the National Championships in Touring Stock (Silver can) and also won the Southern Clash in the Super Stock class (13.5 Turbo). It can easily still keep up with the newer chassis, especially in the stock classes.

you will need to grind the chassis webing and drill 2 holes to make the tc4 steering work.

Setup the suspension to be soft, very soft.

I run silver spring in front with green in the rear. 35wt in front with 30wt in the rear. Shock position outer hole in from control arm with the top in the middle and my current rear control arms only have 1 shock location with the rear shock in the middle on the shock tower. No sway bars since I don't have any. Ride height is a touch high.

I have yet to play with shock location or ride height on my TC3 because of how well it handles right now on carpet. I can run lap times a few tenths off the top5 drivers but not as consistently as them yet. I haven't played with my camber link mounts yet either but later this summer I plan on getting the TC4 chassis braces and shock towers. Better camber link locations and more shock position locations.
