drdiff: i did the same thing, i bought the racer kit, but all ive added were the clip on motor heatsink, 64p gears, and im about to add the cross aluminum spur gear mount, and the cross carbon fiber shock towers.

i thought about updating the diffs to the molded composite but i heard they wear quickly. im still on the original set of diffs (steel) with the shumacher cvd blades.

You can get away buy doing that but some of the extras in the FT kit are worth it such as the graphite chassis (stiffer) and the upgraded bearing (teflon sealed vs metal shielded in the racer). Which ever you get make sure you install a BRP front bumper before running it (your front a arms will love you for it).

rcruv...hahahah and I'll never tell where it is....if I do, they'll kill me!!!

DrDiff. If you are concerned with becoming an AE fan (which alot of people have done once the Pro3 came out), you could always continue to run the Pro2. That car ruled....not better than the AE car (that's one reason I left HPI). The FTTC3 has over $300 worth of eye candy, but, like OUTofCONTROL said, you get over $100 worth of, IMO, needed upgrades (well, the threaded shocks, anyway). The graphite treatment does help the car out on high traction tracks, too.

Just go for it...you'll be glad you made the switch!!!

I have the Team kit and have been happy with it....only thing i want is the threaded shocks.....when i replace a part ie. suspension arm..i go with the graphite.....I have been racing on Ozite with rubber tires....started with 40/30 oil fr/rr......saw several set ups on internet that had heavy oil...80/70 etc....so i tried that and it just didnt work for me...been working my way down and am at 50/40..its better. Most are running the 1 way...but i just havent warmed up to it yet..i like to use alot-o-brake......as far as all the blue stuff...i dont think its necessary.....there are too many factors as to what will make your car go fast, more so, than colors.......my .02

It's not the Blue "Eye Candy" that makes the FT worth it, it is the performance items that most have said that they have added already that make it worth while because you will spend the difference between the kits for those items anyways. Personally I have found that the clip on heat sink actually traps the heat in the motor so I do not use that item.

Prices according to Tower (You can find cheaper). www.speedtechrc.com

Race kit...$149.99
Team Kit..$199.99
FTTC3 Kit..$289.99

Lightweight Diff Assembly..$35.18 for 2
Full Graphite Component Set..$59.99
Threaded Shock Kit..$49.99
Titanium Turnbuckles..$26.99 (not a must)
Teflon Bearing Kit..$99.99
Aluminum Screw Kit..$11.99 (not a must)
Blue Hex Drives..$13.99 (not a must but very nice)
Aluminum CVD's..$38.58 (not a must)
Sway Bars..$15.38 for 2
Blue Heatsink..$11.99 (not a must)

That's $365 worth of items for $150 more on the kit price. There are a few items I couldn't find that would add more onto that total.

It's a No Brainer to me.

The BRP front bumper is an absolute must for your self proclaimed "Drive by Brail" method.

Yepper this is THE DrDiff

I sold my Pro2 to pay for the Pro3. Now the rumor mills are buisy and nobody knows the truth. Horizon said the Pro3 was discontinued. However nobody else has cut their cost, so maybe Horizon is dropping the Pro3. Anyway I honestly doubt if HPI will do anything to support the car. By that I mean fix the fundamental flaw in too much flex in the chaissis. My 2nd RC car was a gold tub six gear RC10 and have had a RC10T and a RC10GT. I'm Seriously considering a TC3 or a B3 buggy. I may give up the sedan wars. Foam is now legal [thus manditory] and I have always fealt it would be the death of the class. Offroad seems to be coming back but MrsDiff will not allow a 1/8 nitro buggy so...

I have downloaded the .pdf file and printed the instructions. It seems that my collection of 64 pitch spurs will fit on the TC3 so that is one problem down. My mounted but never used Sorex 28 and 24 tires will bolt right up. It means a new 300M body. But I like to paint. It ain't like I gotta convert from saddles to side by side cells as that is already done.

I wonder if the HPI adjustable body mounts will fit on the associated posts. I HATE smokestacks!

Dr.Diff.....just curious...why do you feel that foams will kill sedan????We have been debating the foam vs. rubber issue..everybody seems happy with rubber...even with the multidude of inserts...but, like foams...once you get the right set up...you just drive.....foams are about 1 maybe 2 laps more than rubber.....i tried foams and they immediatly felt easier to drive...but, as long as everybody is on the same tire????

The HPI adjustable caps will fit the front posts with just a little surgery.

Anybody wanna try this new small purple ESC?

http://www.team-orion.ch/global/global_news.asp?id=1176

I almost bought Quantum competition but too many people say it's not as reliable as Novak TC2.
I hope TC2 lasts long time.

Anybody running the Delrin arms for the TC3? Are they worth $20 a pair?

Thanks,

Dragon Slayer:

Have you also experimented with shock tower positions?

What's the effect of moving front and rear in one notch?

Thanks,

yj

TP > When are you coming back? They have rescheduled the Lake Perris race for this Sunday, you down?

Dont remember if this was mentioned, but i believe you also get the fake aluminum transpnder with the FTTC3 as well. This helps in practice when transponders are used.

I wish the FTTC3 was out when i bought the car
