Congratulations to Ronald Volker for wining with the new BD5.
Put my BD5 through a serious race meeting on Sunday down here and all went well except for shattering a second front plastic bumper. This making me worry about the materials used as it might be a bit brittle, just as well that they are cheap. The damage was done without hitting anything hard.
I am wondering if there was a batch that escaped that were moulded of plastic a bit harder than the designed (still waiting on a reply from Yokomo as I have been the only one to report on it)
The car ran well all weekend and I am still learning to get a good base line setup for it in our local conditions, By the end of the finals I was happy with the lap times being able to shave 0.5 seconds off over the weekend and making the car easier to drive and with more minor changes to try.
We run LiPo batteries down here and have no problems fitting the packs on the chassis without a battery trays etc. Our weight is still at 1500 grams, so I have to load the car up with almost 200 grams of ballast around the battery. I will post a pic soon of the chassis with all installed.

RaySpeed pistons mite be real hard to fine you could always bye the 1mm piston then drill them out the kit pistons are 1.2 the kit piston look like rayspeed ones. as far as lipo pack i think most will fit im runnig thunderpower 5000 with a lipo tray and i got 1mm left over

you wont get a straight answer from any1, ive tried multiple forums, with no success...
i contacted castle creations, and they say run a 12:1 gear ratio to be safe, and change gears from there.
using the bd5 internal ratio(2.0), ive come up with 12/72, 14/84(pinion/spur). as a starting point.
as for the lipo battery, its good to know that people have room for it, i just ordered a intellect 5000 hardcase lipo.
i only use this car for bashing(i race open-wheelers, so no time for rc racing), and im pretty happy with it so far. no failing parts, no broken parts, and everything lines up properly(no shimming needed). and its very easy to setup.
im using martin's asphault setup, with kawahara 30shore foams, and it handles like its on rails!

for the BD-5 there are no places in US that I know of. I order form RC Champs in Japan. I get stuff just as fast as I get them form California. I live in New Jersey. So to me it is the same as being in US.

It was great to see the Yokomo factory drivers making the trip to the Reedy race this past weekend. Congrats to Ronald for the win in the invite class at his first race with Yokomo and the BD5.
For those wondering about setup, if I knew his setup I would post what I know but I really didn't ask or look to much as I am still running the BDM.
