Ah, no, just seemed like a neat way to run it away from all of the electrics. Each unto their own.

Thumbs up Why lock the diff?

Search "one way build" on Youtube. I would give you the links, but I am still a rookie on this site and have not posted enough to have permission to do so.
Can I ask why you lock the diff and what improvement it makes to your drifting? I intend to drift my CR and was wondering why lock the diff. Thanks in advance.

What's up stu_bry,

I tried drifting my CR with the stock set up. With the stock set up, I found myself having having to build up momentum before I got the rear to slide out. When the diff is locked, you crank the steering, hit the throttle, and the tail end swings out instantly with the same characteristics going to the left and right. As soon as I locked the diff. I almost smacked myself in the forehead for trying to drift for so long with the stock set up.
The reason I like the way 3rd Boss locked up the gear diff is because all you have to do is remove the nails to unlock the diff and return it to stock if you don't like it.

Figured I would share the many looks of my CR.

Featuring-
-CF Exotek chassis
-Custom CS gear set (Counter steer)
-HPI ESC
-HPI 15t Brushed motor
-Hot Racing upgrades

The Miata was painted by me as a tribute to one of the NW Amateur Drifters "Miata Mike"
The Levin was done by my buddy Tony. His love of the "Drift Missile" motif.
The Civic was going to get a Spoon treatment, but classic Red seemed better.

Hey kidthunder510,

Thanks for that info. I'll have to look into in and try it out. I have a 10.5 turn sensored duratrax esc and motor sir it flips the rear around easy enough but it'd be interesting to see how a locked diff helps it drift. I'll try to upload some pic's.

This is my first body, once the Canadian spring weather warms up I'll paint my 510 body. Just started in the hobby but I'm hooked.

Sweet!!! Looks great with the silver rims. I am going to have to get a 240z body for mine. They look bad ass!

I've got the RSR CR and want to convert it for drifting.

Can I just get the drift tyres and put them on the RSR rims?

those with the speed passion esc combo, what size pinion did you use?

And when when connecting the esc to the motor, did you solder it? or push the connector on the esc into the motor? Since it looks like one is male, one is female.

just to share my cup racer which i bought it used, on my favourite tamiya shell, fiat abarth assetto corse, with 1/10 touring car wheels/sorex 40r tyres, i've lowered the ride height to around 3.5mm, and use 6mm rear hub and 5mm front hub so it doesn't topple during high speed cornering

One more "dumb" question - do the drift tyres get glued to the rims like I do with rubber?
