Just checked the tamiya page, and doesnt note the amount of milling, but it must be 1.5mm, as they say it lowers the suspension and geometry back to standard locations. So going from 4mm high chassis to 2.5 (std chassis thickness).

If i set it up properly, clamping the std MRE chassis against the 4mm chassis, shouldnt be too hard to get it right. but ill be sure to cut the new hole much smaller and then 'widen' the hole to match the location perfectly. Well thats the theory anyway...

Hate to tell you guys this but you cannot use the 4mm chassis with the new steering. This is cause on the MSX the front rear block is further forward by a good few milimeters. On the 4mm chassis it is made to use the standard arms so the block is in the first generation 415 position. Therefore the steering will contact the block when fitted in position.

Looking to show at Mimi's some time in November...not cold enough yet to go indoor...just getting the carpet muncher rebuilt.

Last time I ran:
I copied Mark R's carpet set-up from vegas...worked really well for me...I'm stocking up on HPI Pro 4 steering knuckles as they tend to be weak. (boards at Mimi's are no joke). For spings I ran the X-Ray pepto/blue combo 60 wt all around.

This year, I'll run the 4mm chassis which is much stiffer than the 2.5mm.

rick is correct. i just checked my 4mm chassis and the new steering rack wont fit. i agree with carl you dont really need the new rack on the rug. i got alot of slop out of my msx steering with a couple of shims. if you run 7 turn mod motors like mark r you could probably use all the steering you can get. i only run stock and 19t and i have more steering than i need. just my $.02 cents.

for those that want to tinker....i was able to use the ae tc4 air duct for the time being while we wait for the tamiya air scoop to be released. i know i know...shame on me for using a non-tamiya part on this beauty but i figure why not... the esc does sit kinda high though...not sure if there's that much benefit at the sacrifice of a lower cg...
