I left about 2-3 inches out of the case and cut my antenna tube down to about 3 inches, looked pretty trick.
You could also heatshrink the antenna while coiling it around a screwdriver.

Hi Ed,
Did you try unscrewing the fan and rotating in 180? Not sure if the A700 has enough room but doing it this way you may be able to run the fan wire under the front of the motor and then return it to the receiver down the centre of the car under the shaft.

Thanks, actually it wasn't that bad. Just take your time, steady hands, and use your common sense the whole way through. Make sure you pay attention to the way the lead goes.
Little things that helped: when you shorten the TQ wire, dab a little flux on the end, and then a dab of solder. Keeps the tiny wires together.
Use flux, and do one at a time on the board, holding each one down with a small flat head. Also I had a vice to hold the rs itself.
