WTF? No more S400? Please please please tell me this isnt true

If another factory (located in Shen Zhen - close to port to ship landed to Los Angeles/Long Beach) became avilable would this allow for you to continue production and supply? for both S400 and S120?

If so you got mail.

wstuart 12-05-2008 10:14 PM

Yeah I GUESS NO MORE S400.

Do you thinks its wise to advertise race results on your website for a car you no longer produce?!?!?!?!?!

What is even more ridiculous is that someone has to ask you on a thread weather or not their car is discontinued. If you guys took time to post race results for the car why not also post the fact that the s400 has been discontinued. Oh wait I know why, because if you were honest with the market they wouldn't buy the last 100 or so s400s in your inventory. Why eat the cost of that inventory when you can have your customers do it for you. This is how you very quickly loose the trust and loyalty of customers.

See I have no problem with a car being discontinued - it happens in rc for whatever reason all the time. I have a huge problem with a company that isnt upfront about it. Now I understand that things happen fast in business and its hard to get information out there. But as a recent purchaser of an s400 I have to say that I feel completely ripped off when a company pulls the rug out from under me after I just helped clear the last few of their s400s out of their inventory. This is bullshit and this is not how you do business in this country.

I am the first to say that the s400 is the MOST dialed TC on the market, but I am now the last person that would ever want to do business with a company that is so badly organized and communicates so poorly with its customers.

Now I know exactly what you are going to say. - "this development was unforseen and happened very recently. This information will be posted on our site that will be up next week" Thats bullshit and I want you to know that we know it. Serpent parts have been MIA for months now so this production problem isnt something that came out of nowhere. It certainly didnt come up in the last week. The same week in which you guys posted this:
http://www.serpent.com/news/12610/He...n-Belgium.html

Ill probably race my s400 for as long as my parts last, but only because I cant afford a TRF416 right now. if you guys came out with a new touring car I dont think I could buy it unless you helped out people who recently bought s400s or showed a commitment to better communication.

I know EXACTLY how you feel - i just bought a S400, I had an old Serpent Nitro that was so dialed in ... Thats why I bought the S400, i know the quality Serpent has and if this S400 is as great as all the reviews and praise I have seen for it, its a definite challnger for everything that is out.

Hopefully I will hear back from the Serpent representative... if not I may need to bust out the CNC mill...

I feel sick to my stomach.

its 4-6 weeks for a container from China to make it stateside on the west coast and thru customs.

OEM supplier? Were these cars just rebadged vehicles?

W T F???

Been buying serpent cars for 13 years, if this is true, never again.:flaming:

Yaksaddle 12-05-2008 11:42 PM

let's see what Serpent has to say - there is an option I put on the table if they want to support the S400 owners - if not doesnt someone always step up? :batman:

I gave up on my old Serpent Nitro long ago because I couldnt find parts, Im not going to give up this time without one hell of a fight.

Ball is in their court... if they want to support S400 owners great.
if not I am glad I got a lot of spares to make measurements.

I read on another thread of a rumor of Serpent being sold to a chinese company a while back, I cant find any info on which company in china??:weird:

They weren't sold to a company in China, they just moved all the manufacturing to Asia. Check this out.

Fromt the press release:

Serpent has been around for over 25 years. By making above changes Serpent will be in a much stronger position on the longer run, with a more agile organisation and even higher quality products like before. We thank all Serpent fans worldwide for their continuing support !!

Interesting, based on my reading of the press release there is zero reason why another factory could not be used as the R&D is handled out of Holland - so they would be the owners of the molds not the actual factory. As far as the OEM:weird:.. I have a few ideas based on my experience with factories there on what the problem could be...

I will wait to see if Serpent contacts me.

Everyone who owns a S400 keep your fingers crossed.

wstuart 12-06-2008 07:52 AM

My best hope is that they will develop a new touring car that uses many of the same parts. that way we can still get belts and diff parts and driveshafts. Kind of like the Schumacher Mi2 - Mi3 parts sharing. If that is the case though they need to announce that car or at least tell us about it ASAP! If not Ill be sporting Tamiya.

I find myself kindof confused here - do they want to screw over the US market and loose all their customers or are they just really stupid. In any case, if I dont here some very good news soon Im out.

Please read the answer for yyhayyim. All the other line of products are widely available (with normal turnover) and new and exciting projects are underway.

CanyonCarverR1 you are totally rigth and is the intention. We will do our best to provide the info and support

Thank you SerpentAmerica, this is going to be a great resource! Too bad about the S400, I guess that is the state of TC's lately.
Are you guys going to be selling kits/parts to the public? S120 parts?

Is it possible to get a PM with the OEM supplier of the F180? I would like to see if they might have at least one so I can finish what I had planned for it.

Regards.

News on the S400

We just got word from the factory, that a solution has being found and that supply for parts is not going to be a problem anymore. Order and shipment is already being arranged in order to have parts available in our warehouse in USA.
We appreciate your comments and support. We felt was fair to let you guys know what was going on even if we know we may have create some inconvenience.

Thanks
