When is the Novak Booster going to be for sale? anyone know?

From what I am hearing the need for a reciever pack is whats stopping this from taking off around here. So once the booster is available I think the class will come to life.

Have you had a chance to try it with a 3.5 yet?

Donny,

In your testing how has the difference in weight affected the balance and handling?

I would guess that most spring car were designed around having a certain amount of balast in the battery area.

May have to finally give up on tbars cars at least for a practice car.

The cars definitely feel different with the lipo in it. Can't say if its a good different or bad different..just different. In my case I noticed I had to free the car up when switching to the lipo. Dont get me wrong though, I could literally take a nimh pack out and throw a lipo in it and surprisingly the car is still pretty good, I am just talking about minor tweaks (playing with tweak springs a lil bit, softening up the front end etc etc.)

If I had to describe the difference in feel I guess I would call it exactly what it is, lighter and faster to transition in any direction. At first its weird, cause the car actually wants to layover and roll more when you get to the center of the corner. i guess taking all of that weight out of the battery actually raises the center of gravity a good amount.

The one major thing I have noticed is the window of getting a car to work with lipo is HUGE. You can take a car thats tweaked a lil and has chuncked or peeling rear tires and just never know it with a lipo car. Another real benefit for the class to attract newbies.

Rollout: 34-35mm
Weight: 710 Gram
Runtime: more then 9 minutes
Best laptime with 4cell a week ago: 12.7s
Best with 1cell lipo 13.0s (smal tires 41mm)used better (bigger)tires on the 4cell lap
I am going to try a GM evo3 3.5T this weekend.

Default pics

Pics of Rev. 5 setup for single cell lipo with prototype Novak Booster. The booster runs to the batter terminals on the esc and also to the receiver. I turn the car on with the booster switch, not the esc switch. So far it has worked extremely well. I believe the production version is going to be a good bit smaller. The booster def. is a nice alternative to a receiver pack with never having to worry if its charged or not.

You will notice I ran battery bars out the side of the lipo pack. This is a 3600mah test pack I was playing with originally and I had been trying to eliminate any voltage loss due to plugs. This car with the booster and smaller mah pack still runs over 10 min. setup with 13.5, prob longer just haven't tried.

Hope these pics help and shed some light on the booster.

Very nice! were you running the 4.5 with 4 cells too or a milder motor? if so you would be down considerably on RPM, hopefully the with the 3.5 you'll go the distance. Sounds like I better order one!

Any idea what kind of specs the Booster will have?

Or any idea when this may be released? I just ordered a 13.5 and a SMC 1 cell LiPo but dont want to go down the route of getting a reciever batt, etc... since my reciever says it doesnt dig anything over 6v means I also need a voltage regulator, which is just a bit too much work over 4 cell which currently works pretty damn good.

I would think SMC would be pushing for this booster or one like it to get to market, because once it does hit - I see 1 Cell LiPo replacing 4 cell rather fast. It's a bummer than xmas time has come and will soon be gone without folks able to get one of these gadgets in their stockings

Sounds to me like Danny has an opportunity to introduce a new product line.

I'm using the Much More voltage regulator with a 185 mah Losi lipo reciever pack. This is in World Gt with the SMC single cell and 13.5 - works good. Motor and ESC both Novak.

I used the same motor with 4 cells.
Temperature on ESC and motor with 1cell lipo after 8 min, 40C (104F)

I am going to try a GM evo3 3.5T this weekend.

The reason why we released the single cell at 4000mAh was to try and slow the mod 12th scale cars down. So if it's impossible to go the same speeds as 4 cell that would be good as some of the best mod 12th drivers in the world told me that mod speeds were way to fast now.

If racers want to go as fast as with 4 cell packs we can make higher capacity and C rate to make it happen.

I'm the one who asked Novak to make the Booster and now I'm waiting on them to release the info on the specs and date it will be available. Hopefully they will have this info real soon. I will get in touch with them to see if there is any updates.
