F1 car has zero slop or play. Maybe your car is a softer plastic.

yeah I dont disagree. Believe those parts are impossible to find. May just have to convert my front end to something else modern like exotek or xray.

Another outstanding day of racing with my icon2. This car continues to impress me and everyone who sees it on the track. The biggest compliment I get is people talking about how flat it looks in the corners.

F1 on Oval
 

We are looking to add F1 to oval classes. Has anybody rename these chassis on all holes? If so, what changes did you make from on road?

Has anyone run a Reedy 21.5 Fixed timing motor? Trying to get an idea for gearing to start with. I would guess the Gravity USGT motor may be similar too if you have run one of those and have some gearing info.

expect front camber to be positive left and negative right, differing caster settings left to right, likely softer LF and stiffer RF springs.

the rear will probably require different springs left to right, possible offset axle, and a an adjustment in balance with either a LF or LR bias, based on traction needs.

if you can, find a tuning guide for 1/10 or 1/12 oval pan cars.

(Foam) Tire question - why dont we use it? Also purely on a technicality, if rules say rubber tires, aren't foam tires made from a rubber? I feel like i've heard to them refereed to as foam rubber tires or rubber foam tires. If they are made out of foam wouldn't it be legal unless rules specifically say NO FOAM tires? :lol:

I'm just getting into F1 but would figure a foam tire would be good for non-spec practice. At the very least to get the feeling of driving it without blowing through tires. I have found some unprepped parking lots that work decent with my 1/12 pan car on foams. The most prep I did was kicking away big rocks.

Also, zooming in, they surely have found bodies and wings that look a bit more sophisticated. Probably much lighter than kit and better aero at our scale.

I prefer a scale look over performance for my F1s.

This, so much this. If scale isn't someone's jam, there are plenty of performance at all costs classes they can participate in :)

Lot of people are dropping out of F1 they're tired of fighting the car for grip it's very frustrating for a lot of racers especially newer ones slap some of the foam tires on them and the F1 card drives around the track like a 12th scale and the nice thing about the F1 Foams is they last a long time they don't chunk out and they don't need to be trued like they did in the old days they work very well I am using the contact brand and they work amazing and they last surprisingly long I found the majority of older Racers that run F1 to be very close-minded they only want to stick to rubber and they just end up getting frustrated and quitting it's a shame cuz the car on foam is just beautiful to drive but I have found that on this side of the pond people would rather give up then switch.... worst part about it is they don't even consider trying it they just give up.... ETS said we'll just switch and look how awesome it is over there..... food for thought

I understand the craving for realism. I LOVE seeing a used f1 tire that looks like the real thing but mini. I would run 1/12 pan car but it’s not a class where I’m at, except rookie. Everyone jumped into f1 which kinda makes sense since everyone is primarily a 17.5 2wd buggy driver. I don’t really like 4wd. I prefer 2wd for its mechanical simplicity.

i kinda figured everyone also went f1 since it’s basically a 2s pan car. You don’t have to worry so much about compatible 3.8v electronics or boosters, but still get that same-ish performance. Emphasis on performance, since that’s what the pan cars are.

I saw matrix tires are the softest foams. I would try contact but the 1/12 didn’t work as well as ultis. I wish they made a foam f1 tire

Back in the old days F1 ran on foam tires! It was not a fun time as some cars ran om 1/10th tires and some ran on big 1/12th tires. You could not run the tires to the rims as the chassis would not let you. The class died. The rubber tire version we have now is fine with the current rubber tires available. Going back to the foam tires which don't look realist will not solve the problem- it will just create a bigger problem. Been there and seen that before. Just work on the set-up- yes it can take some time.
