Danny, is it possible to make the casing only take up 2 of the 4 slots? Then us T-Plate racers can put it on one side, receiver pack on the other side, balance as necessary, and everyone is happy?

Thanks,
Paul

The chemistry of a LiPo won't let you make the same voltage as a 4 cell NiMh. Not Gonna Happen

I've run single cell voltage before and it's not as slow as some might think. The stock classes are slower but mod is actually about the same speed as long as you run a hotter motor (3.5 in 12th).

I'd like to see the single cell LiPo's run in the same class as 12th. Yeah, they're slower but it's nothing different than the slow cars that we run with now. I had to add weight to get the car to work so the legal weight could be the same.

I've run stock single cell LiPo without a receiver pack using a Spektrum receiver. Worked like a champ and the servo wasn't that slow on the reduced voltage.

Since you're talking about creating a new class to make this work, is there any merit to considering shortening the races back to 5 minutes? That might help with some of the run time concerns.

That is possible to do but we would offer a case with 4 bumps and one with 2 as that should not require a new mould.

I don't think runtime will be an issue if the pack/cell is in 5000+ range. We will have more info about runtime as we do more testing.

The guys that want to run a single pack on one side for the t-plate cars could just flip the pack over and run the smooth side down. It will still be a hastle to tape in but it can be done. You could move the speedo and receiver pack around to balance the car.

Danny,
When can we expect to hear about test results? We can all theorize till the cows come home, while a few laps will tell the story quickly.

My guess is we will have more info after the IIC as we will be running demo runs at the IIC with a mod motor. So far it has been tested twice in oval and it's been going well. The runs have been consistent and it's all about finding the motor that will give you the speed required.

when you guys find out what motors (sizes) and gearing works well for oval and 1/12th post asap, this info will help us at our local oval track to set new rules concerning the use of these new lipo's

In for more info as well. I've been thinking about how to run lipo in 1/12th since last winter. I already figured a 1S lipo and receiver pack was the easiest way to go, with off the shelf hardware. I was also planning on building a voltage step up circuit, based around a Maxim MAX761 dc-dc converter chip, which will work down to 2V input.

What BL ESCs are working on a 1S setup, besides the Novak 4 cell GTB?

danny i'm real curious about the oval testing..

can your guy try a 8.5 or 7.5 motor in his oval car with your new pack>

i wonder if that combo would mimic the current 4 cell 10.5 times we are running today.

thanks bill

Also considering your normally require 4 packs so thats 120$+ With the lipo you could get away with a single pack... or get 2 and still be ahead of the game....

Did you see the posted pics? It has bumps. As for barrel connectors, I think we will stick with the Deans. Oh well, one out of two isn't bad.

the hard core boat guys dont use deans because they melt....
think about that one for a second... on a li-po?
they use gold plated barels.
