Default SMC 5700mAh 25C Single Cell Lipo

Here is a picture of our prototype single cell Lipo. Those attending the IIC will be able to see the pack and we hope to have some demo runs on the track.

The pack should fit where a regular 4 cell NiMh pack fits.

is it 3.7V or is it closer to 4 cell voltage

It's regular Lipo at 3.7v.

So for 1/12 stock class (Novak 17.5 brushless, 2200 Kv) 4 cell NiMH, the closest match right now would be 3.7V LiPo and a 13.5 (~3300 Kv).

(4.8V * 2200 Kv) / 3.7V = 2854 Kv for parity with "nominal voltage"

but with peak voltages
(6.0V * 2200Kv) / 4.2V = 3142 Kv

Ideally, someone could produce a 3000 Kv motor and that would be very close to 17.5 / 4 cell NiMH.

Is there a way to get around the use of a receiver pack?

I think with the lower weight that the same motor may not be to much slower but this will need to be tested. I'm not sure but I think it maybe good to slow cars down a bit.

A reciever pack will be needed unless companies start making servos that work on 3.7v

A receiver pack is a must for us now in our 4 cell spec class, and it's no big deal really. I would like to give one of these a try, when are they going to be available? I'm looking for a pack that will have close to the same #'s from pack to pack, and your reputation for quality products preceeds you. This may be just what th doctor ordered. Thanks in advance.

We will release this pack if the feedback from testing is good which I have a feeling it will be good. We will have a much better idea after the IIC. I think it would take a month to get the cases and cells done so if all goes as planned we would have the packs out in early October.

I think this is a great idea for 1/12... If this becomes the standard I'll be buying a 1/12 again

I think for this to work would be to make this it's own 12th scale class and not try to mix it with sub-c classes. This would allow the cars to be run lighter which should help wear and tear.

danny,

as long as it says 'lipo' somewhere on the product, it will sell. seriously, i'm buying some lipo packs as stocking stuffers this christmas. who cares if these people don't race r/c. we're talking lipo's for god's sake.

nah, i think this will be good. to be honest, i bet there are some good servos out there that will be fine on 3.7. i've run my tc on <50oz of torque, and i bet 12th could make do with half that. for instance:

http://www.gpdealera.com/cgi-bin/wga...pgm?I=FUTM0667

i guess finding a receiver to cooperate might be a bit tougher...

none the less, an interesting new product. sooner or later we won't have anything to complain about. then we'll really lose club racers!!

Can't wait 'till Christmas! I'd better hang a couple of stockings up this year...

I wonder if this will fit above a t-bar but under the shock? Someone will have to bring out a kit for installing into t-bar cars. Apart from that I love it.
