Xray drivers, Paul L. and Travis S. were at my track this weekend racing. I had a chance to chat with them about lipo batteries and they both said that the Trinity 3800 is by far the fastest battery they have ever run....so trinity has my bid.

Thanks for all the reports here folks. Just ordered an Orion 3800 from Speedtech! Can't wait to replace my old Platinum 4800mah in the TC.

No idea why Orion went with an upgrade on the Platinum to increase capacity by 200mah but didn't address the low C rating. I suppose it's considered a extreme run time battery and not for racing when you compare it to an SMC 5000mah pushing 28C.

OK but who knows for how many cycles they last?

Still being new the Trinity 3800 needs some time to get a correct ansewer on life span. But I do know a racer who has over 6 weeks on a pack used 2 race days a week and proformance has not dropped a bit. I would expect same life span as any other top rate Lipo. Somewhere in a year + range....

Never had a lipo with a year life span .Never.Since i was running cheap lipos that wasn't a problem and i didn't expected to much from those packs. But when i was running more expencive packs as ORION 4800 and TRAKPOWER 4900 that i had paid 120-130 USD i was expecting for something more.Instead of this i got a drop in performance after 10-12 cycles and 4-5 packs 4800 & 4900mA that they cannot take or discharge more than 3500mA after 20 cycles. That's why im staying with the 35.00$ Yeah Racing 3200 packs.I ran them 4 times a week for three months now and they're performing like the first time and i don't care about life span or the costs to buy some more when they'll drop.Recently i bought a new ORION 3800 30C that i haven't run yet. I want to see this famous performance of the 30C packs and the 1000 cycles that ORION says.

I have no doubt that the pack will last 12 mionths. The big question is whether they maintain performance.

I am sure that given a big meet on the horizon I would rather be using a brand new Lipo rather than one that is 6 months old. All the people saying they go and go .. have they tested voltages and runtime after 6 months.

And think about it .. realistically if these packs lasted that long and kept their performance high they would cost a lot more than we are paying. You dont get something for nothing

a couple things..

why would I buy a trinity( the hard shell 3800), which looks like it's selling in the 115 dollar range, when I could buy a 3800 orion which looks like it's 20 to 30 dollars cheaper?....

and not that I am an expert, but I know what I see on a racetrack....

I went racing last night for the first time since the winter mini z racing...

I went to our standard track, where a whole new crew of guys from NY and LI( 360 raceway, etc) has shown up........

they are all running the newest x rays and SMC's and Castle and Novak brushless.....

I am still running my 4 year old pro 4 with a 4.5 and a orion 5000 lipo which is on it's 3rd season and has to have been charged 200 times( with a FMA scorpion).....

My pro 4 is legal weight, and has always matched the any car there....Last night proved no different....I was rusty through the corners, but the PRO 4 ate those x rays and SMC's down the 115 foot straight.....now I am not beating up SMC....I'm only touting ORION quality......3 seasons, 200 times charged at 2C..and the car is still faster than anything I have seen...
