I would search this forum for how to get sponsored. There are a ton of threads where people were asking how to get sponsored with lots of great advice. This question gets posted about every 2 - 3 months.

If you are a good driver and/or a good representative for the brand you will get approached. That is when you will know!
But in all seriousness, to get sponsored for your racing ability you don't need to be winning nationals, but you do need to be there or thereabouts at big meetings. And to get sponsored for non-racing reasons you need to know the right people and know the hobby well enough to support the brand.
If you don't get sponsored - don't worry! All you need to do is put the company name in your signature, wear a sponsored t-shirt, or just LIE to your fellow racers - then they will all think you are sponsored anyway!

Keep track of your racing.....what race, where you finished (the higher finish the better). If you already use their products, that helps too. Put together a resume. Call them and ask what they would like to see in a driver. You dont have to win every race you are in to be sponsored. But you have to be a good representative, and you should present yourself and your equipment in a professional manner. Good luck.

ASK yourself one Quesiton ( Why Do you want to be sponsored)
if you answer is to get free or discounted equipment.
(you should not be sponsored
If you Answer is to Promote the hobby.
Then practice practice practice, more practice will lead to doing good at large events and lots of Networking....

If you are looking for dates - check out the websites of your local track(s), that is normally the best place to get race dates for events, doesn't matter what "size" event..
95% of the time, manufacturers do not have this information on THEIR websites, its more a responsibility that falls to the local track..
Other than that, listen to what sosidge, nc-hopsing, and JasonC said...A big event is not the "place" to get track time/experience - you need to be doing things like that at the local club races, then once you're as fast as the fast guys, try your hand at a "big" race...

You have to ask yourself. "Why should they sponsor you rather than someone else?" "What do they profit from sponsoring you?"
The easiest way to get sponsored is to win big races. If you win big races the teams come to you. Unless you're rude, foulmouthed or unpleasant person, then you won't get sponsored no matter how good you are. If you're pleasant, polite and helpful to other racers you might get sponsored even if you don't win races.
