No you don't need to drill holes, the posts will fix through the existing tape slots. It's just that the screws will protrude a 'tiny' bit from the bottom of the chassis, Very slight countersinking with a body reamer would fix this.

Cool!! i really wouldn't mind buying it off you if you're able to find it. if it's too much trouble digging it up though, then dont worry about it, i'll just try driving the car without a centre one way and hope the front doesnt bind

Nar the standard TA04 oneway is shit, we used to do one a run when we were running them, the Alloy 414WC ones are far better, the oneway bearing seemsfar more robust, i did 20+runs on mine at the euros and i did not have any problems with it. Rick

Both use the same one way bearing and breaks. It's just a matter of being lucky or not...

yep i agree, and i was the unlucky one . i was using the aluminium 414wc one and it broke in just about a month of using it!
is it normal for these to break so easily? what about the front oneways? are they just as fragile?

Define what you mean by "break"?????

I've stripped the standard plastic pulleys... but I've never used the alloy one-way... so can't give any help there

the front one-ways seem fine... been using one for about 6 months now and its doing the business without a fuss

There is no problem with the front one way, the one way bearings are much bigger and hold half of the power.

It's not a problem with the plastic at all.

my center one way broke as in the roller bearings inside didnt lock when accelerating so effectively, my car became a rear wheel drive but was definitely faster on the straight though

JohnA. Countersunking the bottom chassis at the tape slot is not a problem for me. I have the tools and I have done it before.

I'm wondering if the distance of the two holes on the XRay hold-down bars would be the same as the distance between the two slots of the bottom chassis of the 414w. Could you pleae kindly clarify this? Many thanks.

Because you have a slot at each side rather than just a hole you can put the straps on a slight angle if they are a bit longer. I do however think they are exactly right, my brother has them on his 414 and from memory i'm sure they are a perfect fit.

JohnA. In that case I will take your word for it and I'll go out to buy a pair of XRay battery hold-down bars and fit them to my 414w. I suppose your 'memory' of your brother's car should be pretty reliable. Thanks again anyway.

can some one supply pics of their alternative battery mounts? be it xray or otherwise, i had a quick look at mounting the xray mounts, and to me it looks like the strap holes are fractionally too far apart.

for such a great car there must be an alternative to either velcro or tape
