Default boost vs FDR

Hello,

I'm running a RS with firmware 212 with a Revtech 17.5. I'm running boosted but I'm unsure of my settings.

I've been told when running boosted my FDR should be between 6 - 7. That's what a few of the faster guys are running. However, the only way I can keep up with the rest of the pack is with and FDR around 4.6. The car was too slow when running higher FDRs like 6.

My settings are full boost, no turbo, thottle profile 3, sensord only. I also have two ticks of timing in the motor.

Our track has about a 100' straight on it.

Could I be over timing the motor? What else could I be doing wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would add some turbo, say 15 degree wih FDR around 5.5

Here is my set up for 17.5 boosted:-

Motor Duo2 timing 12 deg
Boost 53 start 5,000 end 10,000
Turbo 15 delay 0.35 ramp 3

Cheers

Alan

Going to run some mod TC this weekend. Anyone got a ballpark FDR for a boosted 10.5 on a fairly long but tight outdoor asphalt?

About 8.0 depending on total timing (say 72 deg)

Be careful, the Rev has a nasty reputation because of it's habbit of going POP with even mild boost/turbo profiles. If you're going to stay Trinity, the D3 responds MUCH better to boost.

So that there's no misunderstanding, is it correct to say that "LockOut" Spec Mode in 223 is now the *only* approved non-timing profile for the RS/RSPro? Is 212 now "unapproved"?

223 has the same blinky mode as 212. It has an additional lockout mode. I would assume its up to the race organizer as to which would be required.

It may be too pedantic, but 212 does not appear on the approval list now. Does that make it no longer legal for an event that uses this list? It's not a big issue for me - upgrading to 223 is easy, but I can see that some racers could get caught out by a scrutineer looking for 3 blinking lights vs 2 (or vice versa).

That is now what the ROAR website says. Only mentions 223.

I know my favorite speedo made the list. Did yours? I see a few speedos missing!

I see no reason why 212 would not be legal. From the looks of it that page is limited to so much text in the "notes" section.

223 has both the 212 led 3 and 5 blink as well as "Spec Lockout" which blinks led's 345 when applied. Once in lock out the user cannot switch the timing profile setting using the buttons on the unit. He/she MUST use a hotwire to take it out of spec mode. This should help race organizers and tech officials.

Yes my favorite esc made the list

I'm not sure how you could assume 212 would be legal? as there is no mention of it anywhere on that page.

Looking at that page, under the Software Version section, a couple of other speedo manufacturers have multiple version numbers allowed, Tekin only has one version listed - 223.

In addition under the Notes section it explains how to tell if it is in no timing mode and that LED 3,4,5 will be on and blinking. 'Locked' is a Tekin specific software function. It does not say only LED 3,5 should be on.

So if I was a race organizer, I would print that page and go straight off of it .. the version must be 223 and LED's 3,4,5 must be flashing.

From that page, assuming 212 is legal is like assuming 208 is legal, which it is not.

Pardon the silly question, but the 12 degrees of timing on the motor, is that one notch on the motor can.

Each 'notch' is equal to 8 degrees of timing, so 12 deg = 1 and a half notches.
