That Rookie Zone area is pretty darned messy... hard to find
anything useful in there, honestly speaking. There's better
newbie RC beginner websites out there to look for.
I'll stick my neck out here, but I'd say any battery can be charged
anytime you like. Its unlikely that you'll see "memory effect" in
any RC nicads in usage, and NiMH don't suffer that either.
Just:-
1) DON'T totally discharge NiMH. If you use a discharger, make
sure its one of the auto-cutoff ones that turns off at 5.4V/pack.
2) Nicads seem to like being fully discharged; store them flattened.
3) charge NiMH only with chargers that can handle NiMH
4) when storing NiMH, put some charge in before storing away.
