17.5 vs 27t
#31
Maybe I am just over geared then at 3.52 vs 3.95 but going from 49 to 50 seemed a lot better on the top end which makes me want to be more around 3.4 or 3.3. I didn't notice any fade though but you may be right, the brushed car (ronnie?) was eating me alive on the straight at the end of the race so maybe I just couldn't feel the slight difference since I primarily drive nitro. I found some settings in the LRP speed control that may help in stock to draw more current that I'll be trying next time out.
Were you running lipo or nimh? at the end of the run I recharged my lipo 3200 pack with 1570mah so I shouldn't have been anywhere near a voltage drop.
I'll skip the super stock class, I don't need 3 brushless motors now that I've already purchased the 17.5 to run stock with you. I'll run mod with you guys all day long though since my lrp came with the 3.5t.

I don't think 27t and 13.5 would be fair, so I guess we can stick with 17.5

I guess I'm just glad that the 17.5 is basically the same as 27t if everyone would go to it because the maintenance is what took me out of running electric years ago. The last time I ran, I had to cut the comm every run, new brushes and try to get a battery to vent by charging at 8 amps. Nitro isn't exactly maintenance free, but electric is really getting close.

Yes, Ronnie was running brushed/lipo and from what I've seen this is the second case of that combo that runs me down on the straight. He did run 17.5 in his 1/12 and will be going to 17.5 in his TC too. Right Picco007!

First week I ran the 17.5 i was not satisified with it and went back to a 27T. I decided to give the 17.5 another try yesterday and geared it up and was very happy with it. I ended up at a 3.80 FDR with 57mm tires for those who want to compare. I run a 7.36 with the same tire diameter with a CO27 and the lap times were almost identical. And I think the motor wanted another tooth or two on the pinion, I jsut didn't have bigger than a 55

Hey guys here is a video of my 17.5 v 10.5. I am the green car. Its a Kyosho Stallion with 17.5 and the car behind me that ended up winning is an X-ray T2 with a 10.5. I lead 6 out of 8 minutes o9f our 19t touring A Main.
I did notice that at the 5 minute mark that the motor went soft on me. lost its rip out of the corner. My final drive was 3.38 on a 70 x 40 track. I will put a fan on it next week and see if that helps.
I ran the motor against the 10.5 class just for practice before our state race.
I give it 2 thumbs up.

Are you running heatsinks on the 17.5's? I wouldn't necessarily think they're needed, but if things are going south at 5 minutes it might be worth hooking one up.

I will report back next week.
