Here's the latest version of my carpet setup - a little bit modded from the one posted above...

Body: Protoform S60
Motor p2k on about 30/81
GMV12 speedo
KO 713 FET servo
SMC Sanyo 3000 HV's

All settings as kit unless mentioned otherwise.

Front:
Blue Jaco foams (24mm)
Blue tamiya springs (stiff)
80wt oil
New 3deg caster blocks, with 1mm spacer.
Camber set for even tyre wear, about 2deg
Toe in - about 1 deg.
Silver (soft) Anti-roll bar
5mm ride height
About 2mm droop

Rear
Blue Jaco foams (24mm)
Blue tamiya springs
60wt oil
Camber set for even tyre wear, about 2deg
Toe in 2deg
Black (medium) anti-roll bar
5mm ride height
about 2mm droop

Other info:
Fibre-lyte top-deck fitted
Shock bladders fitted
Hotbodies three-piece motor mount
various other little tweaks that don't really do anything

Comments:
Car felt pretty good, with a sharp turn-in, except for a little power-on understeer exiting certain corners. When driven by a fellow racer, he commented that it had too much steering for his tastes, so make of that what you will.

I don't know the rating of the Tamiya blue springs, but they are stiffer than the HPI Linear Pinks (which are about 280g/mm)

Default help with set up......

hey guys...maybe you can help me.....Heres my current set up:

Body: Protoform BMW M3
Motor:Fantom P2K
HB upper deck and various hop ups....
2400's and SMH's

front:
Super G 45's (equal to blues)
Red progressive HPI's
50 wt. oil
Gold sway bar
-1.5 camber
about 5mm ride height

rear:
Super G 45's
Yellow progressive HPI's
50 wt oil
no sway bar
-2 camber
about 5mm ride height

This set up has been working, but I changed my tires to a softer compound and the car has major traction roll problems. Its also alot more twitchy. I think it probably raised the ride height a bit....what can I adjust to make it work with these new tires? Thanks for the help!

DJ- Sounds like you actually have too much traction up front and need to induce some push hence the traction roll/ twitchyness... Try firmer springs or maybe a low roll center both in front or a slightly firmer front insert.

rczone.net have been running the story as well, so there may be an update in the next 24hours.

But hey - we've got another race win for the Pro3 - perhaps that will get some people off our backs!

Raced the Pro 3 today for the first time. I purchased the car from Pro3racing. To say the least I was able to match lap for lap my times with my TC3 in stock and mod. I was rather impressed not knowing the car very well. Taking the flex out of the car really is a HUUUUUUUGE plus running on carpet with foams. Not sure what you guysa re finding with the rubber tires, but foams on the rug it is a MUST.

Anyway, the car is good. It is competitive in stock and mod FOR SURE. Got the lap times to prove it.

If any of you guys have any pointers about the car for carpet with foams send me an [email protected]

This is from Orions site....

"This weekend was set for the On Road Pre World Championship event in Krugersdorp /South Africa.

Atsushi Hara dominated the race, after setting a blistering pace and taking home the TQ. Hara won all 3 A mains very easy.

Hara’s HPI car was powered by the new Core Touring 8 turn double, fine tuned by Oscar Jansen with Sprint serrated brushes and 180° Pro Springs. Oscar Jansen didn’t race the final as he was mechanicing for Atsushi !

Touring Car Pre-Worlds Final results:
Hara /Japan HPI Team Orion
Surikarn /Thailand Tamiya Reedy
Hirosaka /Japan Yokomo Reedy
Adachi /Japan Yokomo Reedy
Tosolini /USA Yokomo Fantom
Groskamp /Holland Xray Peak
Kitazawa /Japan Yokomo Reedy
Kauppinen /Finland Xray LRP
Spashett /UK Losi Trinity
Jansen /Holland HPI Team Orion

TQ: Atsushi Hara /Japan HPI Team Orion"

I won Spec Mod this weekend too- where's my coverage?

Good job Hara and HPI
