Hi everyone,

quick question: did someone already try to mount a thrust bearing on the rear diff axle? Can you share your experience (part number, way to mount it,...)?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
G-rem

The 12R5 and 12R5.1 have identical lower carbon. The 12R5.1 Lipo and 12R5.2 have identical lower carbon. You can't mix and match between generations without hand-fitting.

The 12R5.1 "lipo" should have this chassis plate and hardware. Not the chassis with the battery slots. (12R5 chassis plate. )

If this is what you have, the R5.2 cross plate, upper pod plate, damper tubes and their related hardware will bolt right on.

I did that conversion on my car.

I converted a early 5.1 with battery slots to damper tubes. There as some drilling involved

I have the chassis that has battery slots which I want to keep. So there is drilling to swap to the 12r5.2 rear pod. What is required? trying to do this in the least expensive way because I'm not even sure the track I'm going to race at will even get going

PutAwayWet 06-15-2015 10:12 PM

What's required?

Dremeling, drill pressing, hand fitting, fiddling. Do it. Figure it out. Post pictures.

I'll take a stab and say that no one presently watching has done it, or cared to do it.

Link lengths are the first thing to check. Dremel the lipo version rear pod plate to clearance the 12R5 chassis and then see if you can bolt up the football and links without the whole thing binding. If no, I'd say you're wasting your time to go further.

This whole thing is frankly a little mystifying. The original 12R5 is rock solid as is.

Once the cross plate is drilled, head to www.teamassociated.com and check out the assembly manuals on the 12R5.2. It has all the part numbers for the pod parts, damper tubes and their hardware. You'll also need the 12R5.1 LIPO front shock mount.

Running the shock works great too. Make sure the ball joints are free and run 15 or 20 weight shock oil.

It will be much easier.

The number of parts and the price may get crazy.

Think Im gonna stick with the way it is. thanks for your help guys I rebuilt both shocks and it seems good. Gotta find the setup at SRS nissan man figured out the tires. I just got to figure shock oil for both shocks, side springs and front springs Im only racing 17.5 so lets race!

Best off brand center shock for the RC12R5.2?

tekin112000 07-21-2015 07:07 PM

RC12R5.2 was released in Aug 2012

Anybody have any idea when a new RC12R will be released?

Will it have metric hardware?

It's only the axle / diff that is imperial now.
