Still Bill and EA thanks. If Blackstock can't tell I sure as hell won't know the difference.

Do all the smc packs come w/ the wires out of the side? They don't work/fit well for associated off road cars w/o some chassis grinding which I'm relectant to do...kept my orions in the off roads for now. ..any plans for top of pack wiring?

Also is there/plan to make a saddle pack for a b44?

btw, 4000 working great in the TC.

The newer carbon look cases have top wire exit that work well in Associated platforms. They also already released a carbon saddle pack that works in the B44. There's a thread related to the saddle packs with lots of info on specs.

I just got 2 new SMC 5000mah Lipos and they are a lighter red carbon fiber than the SMC saddle packs I have. Was there a batch made with a different shade of red than the dark red SMC saddle packs? The SMC saddle packs look more like carbon fiber. I have also seen other locals SMC 5000mah (like Still Bill's) packs at the track and they are the same color.

I got my SMC 5000mah Lipos from a hobby shop online and I want to make sure I received authentic SMC packs. Thanks!

My buddy is using the SMC saddle pack for his B44 and really likes it. Works great and with his brushless setup it has plenty of rip.

Yes these are truly our packs. When they did the first colored cases we told them red and we thought it was to dark so we asked them to make it lighter on the next run of cases.

Will you ever have cases that us bullet connectors into the case rather than wires coming out?

Also, any cases with lugs on the bottom to lock into the WGT / Oval cars?

Ran the BRL 21.5/ SMC Lipo class in Omaha and what a great class. Just a little hard to keep the pack in place on the pan car chassis. Put one pack in the car and did not remove it for the weekend!

I'd never buy another one of their packs with bullet connectors, so I hope not.

Hi

Is there going to be any noticeable difference between running a 5000 28C and a 5200 24C on the track, I will be using these in 17.5, 13.5 and 4.0 mod ?

Thanks Ya`All

5.0 * 28 = 140A continuous
5.2 * 24 = 124.8A continuous

The 5000 28C pack will provide you more punch, better performance across the run and not heat up as much.

17.5 and 13.5 you're looking at least 15-18mins runtime when geared hard.

4.0 you wont have capacity issues with either (I use 3.5T and it pulls 3900mAh in 5mins when geared hard on a large outdoor track). I think you'll make at least 7 mins runtime with the 4.0 (depending on which one you're referring to), but you'll find that the 5200 pack will heat up more than the 5000 pack as its not going to handle the constant high current requirements of low wind modified motors as much as the 5000 can (due to its higher continuous current rating).

Danny,

I bought 4 packs of SMC 5000MaH Lipo packs from Hong Kong... When I bought the packs, all looked normal... when I return home after my trip... I inspected the packs again and everything looked normal... I stored the packs for about 2 weeks (left them in their original packaging) before attempting to use them yesterday... I found one pack to have bloated up... what had caused this to happen... It was brand new and unused... is this a manufacturing defect... the store in Hong Kong asked me to contact SMC for a replacement... Thank you for any help you can provide.

Are the packs the new top wire cases or the older side exit cases ?

Hi Birdman,

When I have had such things happen, I always PM the company before broadcasting such an issue over RCTech.net. It does irrepairable damage to these guys; and, nothing they can say over the internet will improve the picture you have painted. I am sure that Danny would appreciate your removing this and PMing him directly.

At the end of the 4600 NIMH battery debacle last year, I did such with three different suppliers and received satisfaction in all three cases. Danny was one of them.

Just my take...

Bill
