Tamiya mini cooper
#1277
Hi guys, i'm new here.
I have attached a couple of pics of the latest re-incarnation of my 'Cooper' and its stable mate.
I'm running a 19 turn motor, 1800 NiCads and a standard 20 tooth spur gear. I cant quite keep up with the XXX's and TC3's on the straight, but because of the Sorex slicks i can run rings round the opposition in the corners.
It handles just like the real '98 Cooper i had when i was back in GB...'sigh', i wish i had bought it over to the USA with me...'Sigh'.
A couple of questions...
1/ I dont see many rear aerofoils on Coopers i have seen here, do you think they are a disadvantage?.
2/ I am suffering severe 'rollover' in the tighter corners, even though i have lowered the Cooper to within mm's (1/16"s) of the ground. Any suggestions?.
3/ Even though i am running Sorex slicks, i am suffering with extreme wheelspin and i was considering changing up to a 22 tooth spur to get more straight line speed.. will this increase the wheelspin?.

Can anyone confirm if this body:http://www.hpiracing.com/bodies/body...ber&value=7024 will fit the m03 chassis with no probs

I belive the HPI Civic body is a 225mm wheel base. The M03 is 110mm and the M03L is 139mm. The new M03M is 225. So if you could get the chassis extender from the M03M the Civic would fit. I am waiting until parts are available for the M03M to use a HPI golf body.

the civic body doesnt fit mine very well... its too long for the short chassis, and the long chassis is too long to fit the body...
seems like it fits the short M04 chassis... cant verify it at the moment, but maybe tomorrow, if no one else chimes in....

how Toesup can change the spur with the 22 tooth one??
i'm from Indonesia using solid axle for my MO-3L and it's works well in any track conditions, it just a little bit heavy on the diff because i locked 'em with araldite.

Hi guys looks like my mini tyre wear more to innner side than the outer.I tried criss cross the tyre.Looks like no differ. What should I do to make it wear evenly.Should I toe in more or toe out.
If I wanna change my chasis screw to Titanium or aluminium. What type of thread should I get
a)tapping screw thread as the original
OR
b)machine thread

I'm thinking to use solid axle to minimise wheel spin.
Answer for your question about 22t pinion ? I think it's not possible, max. is 21t ( after the spur gear is worn out ). As everybody know this is illegal for TCS / TAC .

The Robinson pinions are smaller than the Tamiya with the same number of teeth. I.E. a Tamiya 20T and a Robinson 21T are the same diameter (sp?). Not TCS but good to know. So after the spur is worn a bit a 22T Robinson will fit.

What would you guys recommend to get:
53597 M03 Assembly Universal Shaft Set
or
53205 M-Chassis Universal Shaft Set
Also on the shocks. Is alloy alot better than plastics or is it mainly a bling factor?
Thanks again

i really like the alloy ones... mainly for the threaded adjustment. not too pricey, really...
id get the newer drives, with the cvd-style pivot, instead of the older u-joint style... think the newer ones would be the 53597.
