The M05 has a sleeker, flatter, lower design to it.

the only thing changed from that M03 is the servo. The M05 has lower slanted shock towers and its more of a wider chassis. All that plays a part in lower COG.

Ummm, slanted shocks actually don't work as well as the upright ones. They tend to pivot around the upper mount instead of compressing. Slightly more progressive yes, but in reality not actually as good as the upright ones.

Wider chassis? Well I think not. Suspension is identical. (apart from the slanty shocks/towers) so the chassis itself would therefore be the same width.

I know you're excited about this car, but it's not any advancement really. It's just something a little different.

I don't think the M-05 is going to be any wider, and by lowering the servo you're only gaining a tiny advantage in terms of COG.

It actually looks to me like they took the best ideas from the M-03 and stuck the servo in the back like the M-01.

I'm only hoping that they use the same gears and suspension bits. I'd hate to think that I'd have to buy all kinds of new stuff just to make it work.

It looks like a Wider chassis IMO...not wider track width...

The slanted shocks will be better for the foam/carpet guys for hanging the sharp high grip turns. But with high grip tracks I'm thinking it would offer better, faster, tighter turns...

Also putting that stearing push-rob right down the centre of the car will have people putting there electronics in the rear-sides giving it more COG que no?

Tony, I'm excited about this new M-chassis....but can you blame me?! I'm sure your people are all excited aswell

I think you'll find that a majority of the RC-Mini crew are not chomping at the bit to get the 05 at all. In fact, most of them are very disappointed with the new car - mostly because it isn't that revolutionary

I am actually glad it is not that revolutionary.... IMO the ONLY thing wrong with the current M03 is the silly servo mounting position... so why change the whole chassis that much? I plan on buying an M05 and plopping a Datsun 510 shell on it with this paint job:

Different strokes for different folks. I'm stoked.

And the M05Pro is 100% revolutionized in my book. There's not one thing that's shaped the same as the m03 only ill say maybe c-hubs, uprights and suspension parts.

edwin I'm sure there's going to be m03 parts that are going to fit. I don't think they will come out with a whole new line of parts to sell...unless they wanna milk us like silly cows...

M05 design process.

Problem 1: M03 Servo too high.
Solution: Move servo lower.

Problem 2: Motor in the way
Solution: put servo in the back

Problem 3: Servo cannot access steering
Solution: Stand servo back up, add long tie rod, add steering bellcranks

Problem 4: Motor in the ideal spot for steering bellcrank mounting spots
Solution: Move the bellcrank fowards

Problem 5: Steer rods now slightly out of line with knuckles
Solution: Have the steer rods sweep backwards to meet knuckle

Problem 6: Ackermann now all weird
Solution: Focus marketing campaign on the benefits of lower CG

And i like stated before. For more wider body selection for sleek looking shells.

Now we could put the HPI Z body on it
