Tamiya mini cooper

I have tried out to lower the car ... but no way ... I'm using the standard oil mini shocks : "50519 C.V.A. MINI SHOCK" ... even If I full press the shocks I can't go very down in the ride height. I'm using stock spings without any sping load.

What part(s) are needed to convert an M03 to the long-wheelbase car?

you'll still need to put spacers internally on the shock shaft to get the ride hight you want.

Actually, using the super mini shocks and Tamiya short springs, there isn't a need for internal spacers. You will need spacers/clips on the outside of the shock to get the chassis off the ground though.

killingtime is right if you use the short springs but I've got the onroad tuned spring #53440 which has soft, medium stiff, and extra stiffand for my son i'm using #53163 the onroad tuned springs for 4wd/fwd toung and rally soft, medium and stiff. not surewhat the short spring set comes with.

Per my exp. with the super mini shocks w/ the short Tamiya springs I DO have to use spacers on the exterior of the shock to keep it up. I'm using 2mm shims on the shocks to get 4mm of ride height.....and no spacers inside the shocks. Sportracer - I'll show you what I've done to the Cooper on Sat. in GB. If you want to break the shocks down to inspect, feel free I would suggest that you get the short springs, that way your adjusting your ride height with ext. spacers instead of the pain in the a$$ internal spacers.

I've updated my hop-ups list to include the new Racing Wing Kit, new Titanium Turn Buckle Kit, Aluminum Servo Stays, and other misc info. It's available here:

well, i wouldnt use internal spacers for setting ride height... you will ensure that there is no suspension movement. you can change the droop, or uptravel, that way, but i would prefer to use the external method for the height.
my Mini's have the TRF threaded shocks, and either the short flourescent set, or the short touring car springs on them, depending on the surface. i have no problem getting the chassis on the mat...

hell no I'm not going to rebuild any shocks if I can help it , do you have a part # for those springs and shocks, the internals are a pain in the a$$ but that was the only way to get the ride hight down for me shouldn't be using those TRF shocks on the cooper I guess. that's what I get for listening to Manta.

You should know better than to listen to Manta!! Alright, the shock set I'm using is the #50746 CVA Super Mini Shock Unit Set, and the springs are #53333 Touring Car Tuned Spring Set(short type). As for the internal spacers..again, I don't use them but I do see thier importance if you want to set droop. I just don't see the need right now, for me.

Lots of gear questions
I see Robinson Racing sells metric 48 pitch pinions. How do these hold up compared to the Tamiya gears?
I have a TA03 ball diff on the way... Which gears wear out quickly once the TA03 unit is in the car?
Last, How would you gear a ROAR legal stock motor in an M03?
Thanks. I've learned tons from this thread

I guess three questions was a few too many. I'll withdraw those and ask one; How do you fit something other than a 16/18/20 tooth pinion on an M03?

with out hacking up the chassis tobee craft makes an adjustable spur gear don't know how oit works but saw it on ebay.
