Dyno, the ESC plug may be of the Futaba F type, with a little tab along one side. If so, just trim the tab off with a sharp blade and you'll be fine. You are correct in being concerned about polarity of the wires. Some ESC's still use the Futaba plugs, while JR and many other don't use the tab any longer.

Thanks Rccardr
I tested it last night by plugging in a remote battery setup and realized
it was the lead for powering the receiver up. So I had trimmed that plug and filed it for the jr receiver fits perfect now;). I had just never seen a esc with
2 leads coming to other than throttle and steering. Usually the power up
is in the throttle cable. I am kind of new to rc'ing, so to others this may just seem an easy answer to what to do . So the car zipps good across the floor.
Now to build a caravan for it:lol:.

Also works suprisingly well with 27t stock motors :sneaky:

I have a question. I am setting up a swift model. I have the motor installed.
I hooked up the esc with the red/black/white combo to the throttle. Then I ran my steering servo thats hooked up. I have a black/red wire set from the esc the instructions say to install it in the receiver in the battery position.
But it won't fit into the slot. The black wire should go to the negative side.
It will fit if i flip it and put the red wire to the negative side on the receiver.
What am I missing here? The receiver is a jr 3000 for a 2.4 ghz system. The
Black/red connector has a goofy type of fitting on it compare to the other esc connection.

Thanks
Dynodan22

I assume that's the stock tamiya ESC that came with the kit. That connector is a bit funky. I had to shave the "rails" on the connectors to get them to fit in my futaba receiver. Don't run the car with that connector reversed.

Perhaps you live in UK ( colder climates ).

My friend toasted his TEU-101BK with 27T stock motor. We live in tropical country.

nemix :

buy novak GTB with lipo cut off circuitry

http://www.teamnovak.com/products/esc/gtb/index.html

Or buy XBR Sport Brushless/Brush ESC with lipo cut off circuitry

LRP QC3...fits in the chassis and has Lipo cutoff built in....

On another note....

Could be, but then again, I was using mine indoors, and with it located in the chassis (so not getting a lt of airflow).
Running it with a 27t Monster, XXX Brushed, Red/green springs, on 20 and 18t pinions, depending on track. Still works fine :)

But, thats a moot point now, as the TEU-101BK is sitting in my TA03FS, as the mini is awaiting it's exige brushless :)

Cheers

If your looking for a cheaper option than that esc by LRP.
You can also try the Novak module #5470, #5471, #5472.
They can be used with any esc to protect the circuit and battery.
Only $40, if I had to do this I would just go go GTB/17.5 setup;)
but that again is another $250 out ones pocket, and in the spirit
of mini riding I think the stock esc is fine.

In a word...No.

M04's aren't allowed to race over here (FWD only) so we don't use them.
We've played with them a bit, but certainly not enough to speak on them with any sort of authority.

So there's no M04 section....at the moment.

Rozzt_iwa 03-17-2008 02:47 PM

at sma sydney we had some one come down with a m04 beatle we put it against the m03 class but it was the funnest race watching the handling diference needles to say it came last for some reasen the m03s werer faster on straights and corners eventho both my m03 and the m04 hade the same sports tuned the only diference was m03 was runing 20t pinion the mo4 was runing 21T pinion

The best setup I have found is putting the MO4 on the shelf and buying a FWD. J/K click on The Tamiya Championship Racing forum and put in a couple of questions and you might have some luck there.
