The rule reads the same in Canada "4. Any Tamiya Hop-Op Option and/ or spare part is allowed as long as it is used in the way it was designed, and on the vehicle it was designed for." I can't find a list of available "Canadian" hop-up parts on the Tamiya Canada website but on the U.S. website (http://www.tamiyausa.com/) you can look at a particular chassis and view a list of available hop-ups FOR that particular chassis. The Manta Ray AND TA04 ball diffs are listed there as hop-ups and are therefore legal but there is no 1-way listed. Maybe Canadian rules are different but if you won the trip to Japan....get ready to change it because it won't be legal there. Not really sure why Tamiya Canada would approve something that isn't legal anywhere else but who knows.

the one way is for the TA02. I think it was 53200, but it is not legal in the US or Canada

This is a good rebuild/upgrade kit for your TA03 diff, if you can find it: 53219 TC Aluminum Pressure Plate set.

It's machined aluminum, not cast, and is 30% lighter. Comes with a full set of cone washers and a one-piece bearing for a full rebuild, pretty well everything to make a diff except the gear, balls and outdrives.

On the other hand, as a result I have a spare set of TA03 diff A and B plates.. :sneaky: PM me if you're interested.

this is the page on Tamiya's website listing the hopups for the M03.... the TA03 diff is actually listed,as well as the Manta one there....

i think a lot of that is actually left up to the club running the regional events, but held to TCS rules, they would be out.

It's there..part #53070...about 1/2 way down the page. I'd still like to know where the confusion is on the 1-way. Everyone says it's not legal but Bikerbod did say they verified that it was legal. Sounds like it needs RE-verified.

Tamiya rules do allow both of those diffs in TCS legal competition since they are listed as hop-ups for the M-chassis and all regionals and worlds allow them.

There are twelve 11x5 and two 8x5 metric ball bearings in the SWB M-03. The new M-03M uses eight 10x5, two 8x5 and two 11x5 metric bearings. Kits are available on the Bay dirt cheap.

2 x 850 Ball Bearings
12 x 1150 Ball Bearings

I read that the chassis length is set by a spacer in the chassis, is there a spacer in the shortest chassis? Id like to get the M03M for its newer stronger parts but want to run the short version to run the old style mini cooper body.

To use the old style mini body just remove the spacer.

#53200 Tamiya 4WD Front One-Way Differential Unit. Is this it? What do you use it with. gear diff, ball diff or stand alone? It does say, used with TA03 chassis so maybe if you're running a TA03 ball diff in your mini you can use this as well. Maybe a loophole the judges in Canda allowed.
