This is as short as I can get it. It has both the spacers from the kit and an additional 2mm. Still gives tons of up travel.

This is with another 2mm inside, you can see the exposed part of the shaft is not big enough for the retainer to pass through

Ah hang on, it looks like the shock bodies are longer than the other ones I have sitting here. I wonder what these are off I'm pretty sure all I've bought are 50746

Those are the longer CVA mini shocks, you need the CVA super mini shocks, the shock bodies are about half the size. Get your hands on the new set of 4 with yellow springs Tamiya just released for the tt02 (54753). Otherwise you can get them in pairs.

Thanks, I have one set of the shorter bodies. Shall I run them front or rear until I get another set? I'm thinking less front droop than rear would be prefereable on a M05

EDIT.

Just found 2 OP.1000 damper bodies in my parts box. This is all getting a bit heath robinson.

When I was at the Tamiya track. I saw Chuck ( mini guru) had his esc opposite side of the motor. Instead on the rear like the manual shows Had the wire go across the chassis. Since all weight is pretty much in front, how do you think it handles? Anyone with an input or have tried it? He was TQ by the way on that event

Old pic from last year, but inspired from Chuck...

Dear all, the shock lengths that are posted throughout this thread. Are they really end to end or center to center? If I build my shock to 57.5mm I can't get the spring retainer on!

I build mine to around 55mm. Sometimes, I need to back off the ball end to make room for the retainer. Very skinny wire cutters are good for this as they fit through the spring windings.

If you get 42168 spring set, it's the same as 53333 but the springs are all black, with the colour coding on the top retainer ;)
