It's JPY5600 so about $51.. but since these are all gifts, it's free to me.
Basically it's a pick your poison.

I do the same when I visit him from the US.
-I need to find me a friend from Japan.

Which version of the chassis do you have and which version of the motor mount do you have?
I am betting he has the Tamiya M05VII chassis w/ the Tamiya M05 motor mount OR a washer or something is missing from the steering which would prevent that clearance. ...I'll have to look at my setup when I get home.

Hey does anyone know where to find a 3s lipo battery that will fit the m05s battery compartment? I have a pair of 2s but looking to see if I can get a 3s. Apparently it's harder than finding a palm tree in Antarctica!

Why would you want to put a 3s in there?

The most BAM possible. I think it's a little bit too much but wanted to see if its possible. Might be better for more power.....but again....just thinking outside the box. I have a feeling it's gonna be a BIG challenge and is probably worth it to just go brushless.....just an idea.

Did you upgrade to the V2 chassis yourself? I thought the V2 Pro kit came with the correct aluminium motor mount.

If you find one, buy 4 sets of gears as well because you will shred them in about two minutes...just sayin....

I think you should get a 4WD m-chassis (or a TC) if you want to put down that much power. M05's only have moderate straight line grip and will take a long time to get to top speed while your tires freewheel and gears burn up inside making the drive probably not so fun.

imho these FWD cars are most fun driving spiritedly running mild to moderate power. 4WD m-chassis can handle a lot more power you can actually put down.

It's his prerogative. If somebody wants to connect a 3S LiPo to a 18 turn brush motor, in a mini, have at it. I personally would recommend against it.

In fact, I personally don't recommend any hop ups for a mini that is going to get kicked around in front of a driveway.

I did.... I bought the M05 used and since the chassis needed to be replaced might as well use the V2 one.... ebay never mentioned a V2 motor plate had to find it on Tamiya.com and once there i found it on ebay..... it's in queue to be ordered.

I had a 7turn brushed motor in my m03 once with a heavy nimh pack . It was fast, but ate the gears in less than 20 runs.... 3S lipo is worse for your gears than my setup... Good luck with that.......
