Thanks for the responses guys. I have most of the parts needed.

Now, how about getting a SWB M05 to handle well on a large track?

You will need a modified gear diff with extra washers or a TA03 ball diff. The oil gear diffs do not fit the MO3. Plus they usea bigger 1510 bearing in the chassis. I would also invest in hardened outdrives for the ball or gear diff.
I have been runnning my MO5 V1 in swb configuration at Newcastle and Tamworth cup. I have found that by turning down the servo speed has made my car less twitchy and easier to drive. I am using Mc38 front and Sc32 rear tyres and a rear swaybar. I have the front shocks second outer on front tower and run 54000 shocks. Using Tamiya fluro red springs front and rear, plus added extra weight to my battery. 50 gms of lead sheet.
I found the best body with these tyres to be either the abc hobby swb swift or Blitz C30 volvo with no wing.
I run front toe out and 1.5 degree rear hubs.
It working for me. Just need to get the radio setup to make the car easier to drive.

As usual what works for me, might not work for you. It should give you a ballpark to begin with. Test and adjust from there.

Later,

Fitted the full Tamiya steering upgrade to my M05, thats Link, steering set and posts. Also added some Jaz rider hubs in a wonderfully non matching red

Oh and the 3racing bumper to try and save my already splitting shell.

As there is no mini racing for a few weeks at my normal Sunday place I'm thinking about giving outdoor racing a try here

Will need to fit a stock diff to meet their rules but no big deal. Looks great, one and a half hours drive though and the weather cannot be counted on.

Which bit of the U.K. are you in? If you're south/east of London, would Kent be a stretch? You could always see what that weenie crazybrit123 and his cohorts are up to.

Disclaimer: Andy, Iain, et al are actually very, very nice people and serious competitors who we're happy to have visit Alberta. It's just a shame they have to show up in December, during blizzards.

From what I can see from old posts their home club is Capel which is about 4 miles from me, I get down there when it is the school holidays. Also at West Kent which is my normal Sunday race club. So it is very likely I've met or at least seen them before

Thanks Cal,

Now I just need to decide if I make my second car an M05 swb, M05Ra or convert it to M03.

Decisions, Decisions.

I'd do the M03 short wheel base.

So I opened my stuff last night and found a set of shimuzu tires Super soft and soft and some new rims!! The front of the tires seated perfectly with tamiya super hard foam in it but the back bead wouldn't seat nicely....and I mean SUPER bad. So I did what I could with it but the rims are just garbage I got. What do you guys recommend for rims? I bought some cheap ones and learnt my lesson lol. I'm going to try slick type B for outdoor asphalt.

Is that because you are using 60mm diameter foam on 55mm diameter tires?

I only use the soft foam that comes with the Shimizu tires. As for wheels I run the Tamiya Rover Mini wheels in the gray color. Chrome is okay too but might flake too easily if you're racing.

No the tires are 60mm. The rims are so bad that they are like eccentric lol not totally round. Straight crap. Only using tamiya wheels from now on

You know how I was happy with sticking with my FM radio, and I was baulking at spending out on anything other than a Spektrum? I bought a decent KO radio, two receivers and a digital servo for my mini last night.

I blame the booze.
