Is anyone using slicks on carpet? Wondering what works.

Is there any setup reasoning when choosing either 210 vrs 225 vrs long when it comes to wheel base?

Just curious since I have been running short all year long now.

Other than swb being very slightly twitchier and more eager to rotate, no. Another factor may be body choice. Lots more swb selection out there.

I found medium wheelbase to be the best balance between stability and cornering capability.

I used to run type-A slicks. They work. Compared to the S-grips (or even M-grips), the type-A likes to push a little more.

I have. I think it was Type A on the front with S Grips on the back. Good combo, but I found the ring of death crept up too quickly on the slicks and switched back to S on all corners.

Is the "ring of death" the anti traction roll bead of ca?
Do you ca the whole outer rib?

I'm assuming the "ring of death" is a ring of wear on the inner part of the tire that eats right through to the foam, while the rest of the tire is still in relatively good shape.

Yes, that's it. The problem can be reduced by using less negative camber, but that's not always an option on a Mini. A tight or very viscous differential adds to the wear.

I ran Type A fronts with S-Grip rears on my M05 on high-traction carpet, and really didn't have this problem.

Wow..... Hopefully nothing got damaged....
On the weight issue, I had to add 173gram to my car to make 1300gram, and I use a 200gram long lipo pack. Did tamiya lower the minimum weight some ??? I know they are always changing the rules and all, but can't seem to change this one...

A few hours ago, I sat down at my desk with my laptop, Hobbywing program box and a few cars. I first went about making sure I had the latest version of USB link and the firmware on the program box was up to date. Then, I checked to see that my TC (HW 120A V2.1) had the latest update. Yuppers, no problem, grab the next car.

The next car is the M03. (last version of Justock) I plug it in to the program box/USB link and get nothing. Unplug, replug, turn on and off...nothing. Now I'm thinking the newest version of the program box firmware won't talk to the slightly older ESC I've got. It wouldn't be the first time Hobbywing has done this.

So, I spent two hours uninstalling/reinstalling various versions of HW's USB link software, firmware on the program box. Swearing, pounding my fists on the workbench and promising myself that the next chance I got, I was flying to Redmond, WA in order to beat the living tar out of Bill Gates (more on my hate for Windows another time maybe) followed by a trip to wherever HW is based, to dish out some serious slappings.

Anyway, two hours into this and I noticed something new. Looking through the slats in the rear half of my M03 I see an orange and a blue LED lit up on the ESC. Very slowly, it dawns on me that Hobbywing Justocks don't have orange or blue LEDs. You know what does have orange and blue LEDs? A Novak GTX.

I completely forgot that I'd switched the M03 to a brushed setup last week.

Dumbass.

Found some cool mini stuff while I was on Shapeways, ordering a steering wheel for my radio. (shapeways.com is a 3d printing company where you can send your designs and they'll print them in various plastics, metals, ceramics, etc, in any colour/finish you want). You can also make your designs public so other can buy them

M03 front body posts

M04/04 gearbox cover

and my favourite, adapters to make your M04 rear motor, like the M06. Best of all, you can finally do a real SWB M04.

Check it out! Ignore the Mini Z stuff in the top row.
