I think you will find that the Tamiya Sport Tuned (black can) actually has more torque and higher rpm for a given input voltage than a Johnson or Mabuchi 540 silver can.

I've actually never seen any wear on my internal gears ...maybe because I take the chassis apart and clean after about every 2 or 3 race days to get any grit out. In general the plastic gears actually work very well and are pretty robust. I wouldn't worry about this, if your gears are getting chewed up or worn then you have something else going on that would have to be sorted out.

As for the motor, I'd go w/ Sakadachi's recommendation of the tamiya sport tuned motor ...I believe it will just plug into the two wires from that stock tamiya ESC ...you wouldn't have to solder anything (if I am not mistaken).

Sounds good, more the better! It just feels weaker at lower RPM as the overall RPM is noticeably higher vs the stock can, and noticeably different from their TorqueTuned motor I run on my GF01's. :)

eR1c - Yes, the black can is PNP (plug and play). It's a great motor for bashing imo.

I wish I can say the same on my idler gear. :lol: Must be the braking I do.

:lol: The new rubber runners I installed this Spring has tremendously improved traction so I do not need to brake as hard as before.

In fact, I got the runners in April, I haven't had to change out the gears yet on any of my m-chassis. :p

Thanks, monkeyracing. I did some digging and the M04M uses the same 50736 b-parts and found a 1 degree toe-in for that car for $10 to use on my M03. :D Part is now ordered.

The M03 uses identical B4 parts left and right meaning it has zero toe-in.

I noticed the M03M has left and right designation for rear uprights so that chassis came with whatever toe-in from the factory.
It's been a while since my first two M03's I built back 16-17yrs ago so forgot all this. :lol:

Mine was coming along nicely before it got parked for the summer - In its current state it is significantly quicker than my previous years' WCICS series-winning M05, and I believe (I haven't had the opportunity to run them back to back on the same track) even quicker than my M03r. It sure is much smoother and easier to drive fast.

What do u think about the 16t 167 watt 30000rpm motor? I just don't want to be disappointed and have to buy another one to go faster but i dont want to have to swap the esc either....defeats the purpose of a brushed motor. Eventually I'll get a brushless...probably next year. But with a gear diff and a quicker motor I think I should be happy enough for this year.
