Ta03 Diff Help
 

Great Thread. My son and I both have mini's. We look forward to racing at the novak race each year, it is a great filler race between touring car rounds. My ? is what is the proper way to adjust this diff. Tamiya did not give instructions how to adjust it?

i have the alloy shocks, what size limiters do i run in these and what colour springs??
the springs that come with the shocks are blue

TAM53280 is the part number of the shocks and they are for a TAO3

Which one is better, M04L or M03L. What you guys think about these ... any comment...

Farmer tighen the diff fully and back off 1/4 turn usually sets it pretty close.

Grahme- usually 3 orings gets the droop close inside the regular alum bodied shock. As far as springs all depends on the track surface but a Blue front and a Red rear is close. Carpet you might want to run the new "true color rates"

Raycer for the current rules package with pinion choices for tCS the M03L or M03 is your best choice for chassis.

Ramos 53222-super slick is the old 50D diameter the 53293 is the belted Type-A usually the preferred tire for outdoors.

I ran a gear diff with Asc black grease and doubled up on the 9mm diff washers (also helps lock up the diff) on Friday night...

I was the only one not running a ball diff on low traction carpet (brand new +) and I was left behind coming off every turn. Hell I lost 6 ft right off the line due to wheelspin. I will be going to a ball diff as soon as I can be bothered to split the chassis again.

The hardened pinions (from F201) are a much better choice than the cheaper alternative they last much longer.

I run the short blues up front with 70wt oil and red springs with 40wt in the rear. 4 o-rings in front shocks, and 2 in rear (on shafts inside.

As the track works in, I will put the sway bar back on the front and go back to Type A's all the way around. Btw this is with an M03 running:

Full bearings
TL01 suspension shafts
Universals
Aluminum front hubs (adds alot of weight but saves on breakage)
Lightened kingpins
The low friction aluminum bodied shocks (cheap)
5mm ride height (rules....)
Ti turnbuckles (not tcs legal)

Also, the servo mounts are drilled to permit 2 screws on each side of the servo which prevents the servo mounts flexing so much. (not sure if this is legal for TCS or not)

At TORC its often an M04m that cleans up, (http://rcontario.com/rcorevms2004.html)well when he shows up anyways +) and it has all the hop-ups.

Only rules we run are the silver can, and a 5 mm ride height.

We don't race them often but when we do its a blast.

where abouts do the limiters go???

Frequently check pinion and spur gear with TA03 ball diff setup. The wear rate is pretty high and the gearbox is noiser. Tight ball diff helps cornering speed (spinning) problem.

The o-rings go on the shock shaft before you put the shaft into the shock body. Basically limiting the extension of the shock. The shocks I use are not short shocks, they fit the touring cars as well. These settings should work on any of the full length shocks though.

I have the Manta Ball diff, these things aren't really adjustable though... its basically locktite(medium) the threads and tighten it up and hope it stays put.
Not too worried about wear, love these cars for how cheap they are. New chassis for an M03, only $15 CDN, new gear set $8 CDN (pinion set screw came out)

are the shocks i have for a touring car???

Any Tamiya shocks will work on a mini. You just may have to use orings or spacers on the shock shafts to shorten them abit.

Also you may have to use balls to mount them.

what piston do i need to put in the shocks ie number of holes???
