I think we've had this conversation before, but why is it the local club insists on nimh batteries? There have been quite a few years to transition. Is someone influential in the community afraid or too cheap to switch? There is always an impact on racer, but spread it out over a year and it won't hurt a bit.

HPI does make decent pinion. The info I have it's #88020 HPI part #. It's in one of my cars right now.

Of the pinions I've tried The Tamiya fluorine coated pinion is good, but it doesn't have enough meat around the set screw so it can strip in time. The Robinson is good, but my usual suppliers don't stock it and the shipping is more than the pinion from those that do.

This is the one I use but of course it says Tamiya on it so pricey. The fast mini guys recommended it to me.

Our Club insist on NiMh's too.

Whether you go for cheap or expensive cells, a good charging/discharging/balancing/storage regime is essential to good performance and longevity.

I recently picked up some pit shimizu tires for my mine. the treaded type. i got hard and med compound. im going to let my son run these on high grip carpet.
which end should i run the tires on. hard fronts/ med rears? or med front hard rear? its only going to be run on carpet 2 times, after that its outdoors on pave. just thinking ahead for asphalt since i know the carpet wont wear them out. im thinking hards front and the med rears since the fronts will take more of the punishment due to fwd and more front weight bias. btw tires on the rear are offset rims and fronts are standard rims. these are not glued up yet so not sure what to do. any help is greatly appreciated.

These have a little bit too much grip for carpet. Sweeps are probably a better choice even for outdoor asphalt. In my experience, too much grip on carpet and they did not work for me on asphalt.

Sorry, but that's all the help I can muster. Sweep premounts seem to work pretty well on most surfaces. Atomics or Spices may be better on asphalt than the Sweeps, but availability is the problem with these tires.

thanks for the help. my son is only running the novice class so he isnt going to be very fast yet. ill be driving it outdoors in a month. but for now i tested the car with the hards in front and the the med up front. its much better with the med up front. so thats how ill run it for now.
